Gov. Dayton on the news..

Postby farmer44mag on Sun Feb 24, 2013 8:57 am

Did you all see the Gov on the news a couple days ago-- "gun and mag bans are just cosmetic solutions" he said and talked about wanting "real" solutions dealing with criminals and mentally ill. He should let our 2 US senators in on this piece of knowledge.

Obvious to me public opinion is strongly on our side and he wants to get re-elected--- or he wouldn't have any problem throwing us under the bus.
Glocks-- 17,19,26 in 9mm and the 21 and 36 in .45auto-- S&W M&P Shield 9mm

Mini-14 and Rem. 870 for all types of vermin.

I wonder if he actually believes that, or if his political calculations totaled up in the wrong column. Nevertheless, a change of position based on political expediency is still a change of position. It certainly makes me wonder how Franken or Klobuchar or Nolan could be misreading the political landscape so badly when Dayton appears to have a different conclusion.

Actually, it shows that Dayton is aware of the Constitutional issues and doesn't want to sign into law a bill that may be challenged on Constitutional grounds.

It shows his legal team is giving him good advice and he's listening.

Dayton is a good guy and always has been. He's never been a slave to the DFL extremists.

The two senators you mention, however......not so good, not so good at all.

Despite the look on his face, he's not stupid. He knows everybody in the state gets to vote for or against him. Those below him only have to worry about their little districts.

I have a feeling that no matter what the constituents want, those two senators will vote against us. No matter what! It's just their agenda.

Republicans have won alot of off-year elections in this state- you would think Franken would be a bit cautious.

Yeah, that's my point. He doesn't exactly have an overwhelming election mandate. I think he's vulnerable on this issue alone.

I thought Klobutcher was as well, but she got reelected. The good folks of this state just don't get it.

True, but I think the gun control debate that is currently going on puts a different spin on the political landscape. Whether or not that anti-2A outrage will sustain itself to 2014 in the face of Minnesotans' traditionally short attention span, I don't know.

She wouldn't have if so many of the gun owners hadn't bailed, kinda like if you didn't the person next to most likely did.
Should say;The good GUN OWNING folks of this state just don't get it.

And yes I do look at gun rights first and other issues after that. I don't look at party.

Klobuchar is the perfect apple pie and motherhood politician and never takes a stand on anything controversial.

She's the perfect Republicrat. She's not at all vulnerable. She's also pretty useless.

Franken would be vulnerable if opposed by a good candidate. Unfortunately, Republicans have tended to try to elect Tea Party psychos of late and that means Democrats win.

We're just lucky Dayton is as moderate and intelligent as he is and also has a lot of RURAL MN friends, supporters and contacts.

Remember, gun control is not Republican vs. Democrat, but almost always an urban vs. rural issue and we must remember that when we support politicians.

Apparently Minnesota doesn't have any problems with debt. Glad we're focusing on the things which are really important.

Do you think Kurt Bills was a tea party psycho?

Excellent post. I must confess, this thread has caused me to rethink my opinion of Dayton a little bit. Now, if I could just keep his hands out of my pocket....
