I don't know what to tell you. Your analysis is all wrong. No republican will vote for this. No democrat wants to see it even get to the floor.

I think I agree with the Pink Pony.

Trust the people at GOCRA who've been at this a long time, take their advice; panic only if they tell you.

How many committees will be discussing it in some form or another? I just got this from Kline:

As Chairman of the Education and the Workforce Committee, I will lead a
full committee hearing on tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. CST to discuss school
safety issues in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.
The upcoming hearing will provide an opportunity to discuss ways states
and school districts are working to prevent violence in our classrooms.
I appreciated hearing views from educators in the Second District, and I
look forward to a robust conversation with my colleagues on the
committee and expert witnesses on these important matters.

GOCRA's e-mail is pretty clear on what we think is going to happen next - we expect both the house and senate to introduce a omnibus bill - they may or may not be the same. And then there will be hearings. That will be the next fight.

I think the call to action that is in GOCRA's latest communication is accurate.

B

I would posit that a gun bill that has ALL the different bills rolled together is a best case scenario for us. Neither the House or Senate will want to bring it forward, as neither want's to have their names associated with it when it fails.

I would agree with you on this.

Don't panic, but do call, write, e-mail and so on.

This is federal (Congress) - we're mostly talking state legislature in this thread -- the MN Public Safety House Committee and the Senate Judiciary Committee...

Unless it's guns. The courts will only rule against gun rights, when it comes to procedural flaws in the legislative process. They will never rule against gun control.

Except the courts have ruled for gun rights consistently over the last 30 years.

Name one instance in which the Minnesota courts ruled against a gun control measure, because of procedural flaws in the legislative process.

If Heffay is right I will PayPal him a box of WWB.

I think the current Minnesota Political tone is set by the election of Al Franken & Dayton.

A margin of 315 votes for Franken and 7000 for Dayton....and I suspect that both elections were stolen by bus loads of 'Mentally-Challenged' 'Vouched-For-Voters' that were run around to multiple polling places and voted twice...or some such variation of that....I think 'The history of CLEAN electoral politics" in Minnesota is baloney and ultimately we're just behind Chicago in corruption.

....note to self....lay off ALL-CAPS...the Franken election by 315 votes especially...KSTP wanted to see the paperwork behind the vote count and was denied.

Somehow the MCPPA of 2003 was declared unconstitutional in a dubious lawsuit where 2 churches were snagged in as Plaintiffs by Former Democrat Prosecutor David Lillehaugh. That Jackass was personally SEETHING that individual citizens now had the ability to carry firearms for their personal defense. I assumed he financed the scheme.
I got my permit and 4 months later the MCPPA was declared unconstituional by a Democrat Judge who was set to retire in less than a year.
My perspective is 'America Has Fallen' and it is little battles like what goes into an 'OMNIBUS GUN BILL' that defines any battle lines.

If Heffay is right he can do couple of Mag Dumps on me. (a box of WWB from .380 up to .45)
(or make a donation to GOCRA)

The reason the original carry law in MN was unconstitutional is the same reason the government cannot now add gun control onto other unrelated bills.

It WAS passed in an unconstitutional manner. It was fixed and passed correctly. The system worked.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

I'm going to defer to the 'GOCRA HISTORIANS' You are right about a DNR bill being....'commander-ed' and the MPPA 2003 became that bill...I seriously think it was well within the scope of 'judgment call' as to wether 'the title of the bill described the bill'.

In other words, from my knowledge, transforming the DNR bill into the MPPA 2003 was nothing that hadn't been done routinely by the DFL.

The Church parking lot / signage issue AFIK is the only reason the bill got to court anyway and THAT SUIT was just pure political fighting done with the court as the battlefield.

That's how I got it.

Like I've said before, if MN makes it out of all this BS okay, it won't be because Heffey was right, but because enough people didn't hear/listen to him and fought a good fight against it.

While confident or out of state individuals tried to convince us we had nothing to worry about.
