The reason the original carry law in MN was unconstitutional is the same reason the government cannot now add gun control onto other unrelated bills.

It WAS passed in an unconstitutional manner. It was fixed and passed correctly. The system worked.

I'm going to defer to the 'GOCRA HISTORIANS' You are right about a DNR bill being....'commander-ed' and the MPPA 2003 became that bill...I seriously think it was well within the scope of 'judgment call' as to wether 'the title of the bill described the bill'.

In other words, from my knowledge, transforming the DNR bill into the MPPA 2003 was nothing that hadn't been done routinely by the DFL.

The Church parking lot / signage issue AFIK is the only reason the bill got to court anyway and THAT SUIT was just pure political fighting done with the court as the battlefield.

That's how I got it.

Well, to be fair, the whole point of the law restricting the legislature from adding a bunch of unrelated crap to a bill is to ensure that the kind of **** that went down in NY doesn't happen in MN, where there was no public discussion of something before it was passed. Nobody can make a case that the original carry bill, regardless of name, was anything other than thoroughly discussed and very much in the public eye for a significant amount of time before being voted on. It wasn't something that was "hidden" in an unrelated bill. It overshadowed the rest of the bill by a large margin.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

This just in:
NY State Supreme Court to Cuomo:
PROVE 'Safe' act is constitutional by April 29 or an injunction will be issued preventing enforcement.

So...bill will be suspended pending court challenges HA HA HA.

Good News. I hope they're listening in ST. Paul ;)

TRUE!

AND......this probably validates and confirms what some of the DFLers have been thinking about trying to force extreme laws on us.

FYI the NY Supreme Court is not their highest court. It's basically a trial judge. Great story, but this is just the first step.
