There is a difference between not having insurance and not getting care.

By law, you present to an emergency room, and they have to evaluate you.

That doesn't mean you get satisfactory treatment or any treatment at all.......and anything you're lucky enough to get may take five hours of waiting.

And WHO pays for it? You and me and OUR insurance companies because the hospitals have to get their money from SOMEBODY.

Obamacare takes care of that problem.

Thank God.

Because......that old "emergency room" solution doesn't REALLY provide health care. No, not at all.

What it provides is simple emergency care if you're lucky enough to get it.

It doesn't provide cancer screenings or blood pressure checks or routine visits that catch heart problems or other serious problems that can kill or pregnancy care or the well baby care that all babies need or the routine visits that all kids need to grow up big and strong.

Emergency room care is fine if you're bleeding......otherwise it ain't worth much BUT, it costs the rest of us far, far too much to be effective.

Anybody who's against Obamacare after really thinking about this must be a hard-hearted S.O.B.

Hey, watch it there. I like my Volvo. Makes me feel all green and crunchy, especially when the turbo kicks in and I get less than 20 mpg 8-) And my wife drives a Subaru Outback. I promise we are not nice, and we are not "from" Minnesota  . Word.

45Badger,

Judging from your posts, you're not one of these libs that I am referring to.

So now it is everyone's responsibility to provide homes for the homeless? Olaf and his ilk will make you pay for it before him.

Olaf, I don't have running water, do you? If you do, then I demand that YOU pay for my housing. I just happen to be less fortunate.

I know Olaf will not open his checkbook or home, because he would rather steal from you.

Olaf is paying his fair share and more, probably......sounds like you can't pay much.

That's ok......to each according to his legitimate needs--from the surplus of the rest of us.

I'm happy to pay some heavy taxes to make a better society......I just want the rich deadbeats to quit holding back.

And it's still an amazing mystery to me why some poor people want to kiss the asses of the rich while watching other poor people suffer and poor kids die due to lack of acceptable medical care.

Put some action behind your words and have infidel over for a night or two. I will make a 25 dollar donation to the charity of your choosing.

edit: realize that even if you agree, it is still your choice -- not the government mandating it.

Why would I give special comfort to someone who supports the rich deadbeats that are causing the problem?

Again, if you think the Heathcare act will do anything but move the problem around, you don't know what's in it.

I agree that there are some problems in healthcare. Since I work in the field, I suspect I know a heck of a lot more by experience then you do. We now need to do another health care reform law to reform the law that was passed in a shoddy fashion. Don't get me wrong, the Republicans have more than their share of issues, but its obvious that you are unwilling to admit that nothing that the Democrats have done in the last 5 years has worked out remotely like they promised it would while campaigning.

You say that people will now go and access care normally? I doubt it. Some will. Most won't. In fact, most will be too lazy to get the government insurance until they are sick and then it will be up to the hospitals to provide them with a social worker to do that for them.

I have been gotten up at 3 AM to do an "Emergency" pap smear, I kid you not. I was not happy, but I did it. And no, it was not someone paying their own bill. Her excuse was that it was the only time that her boyfriend could get her to the hospital.

So, you tell me how "hard hearted" I am???? Buddy, I'm doing the work AND paying the bill. Medicaid reimburses something like a dime on the dollar.

Give me a break.

It will work out when the Party of No is unable to obstruct it anymore.

Maybe 2014, maybe 2016, maybe 2018.......but it WILL happen.

Excuses like that are why the Republicans say we should do nothing.

We WILL do something.
