... while we're hammering out the sensitivity training  ...

what, precisely, would be acceptable to collectively refer to gun-owners who're content to throw AR's, 11rd+ mags, private FTF transactions, and any other such thing, under the bus?!

Gun owners.

That's what I keep coming back to. I'm not trying to piss anyone off, but when they cut us loose, it's hard to make nice.

Some people never understand things until it happens to them personally. They just think it will never be them that is on the pointy end of the stick or under
the microscope.
Then one day POW right between the eyes . Of course then its far to late and they can only wish they had stood up for those other guys , Who use to be the radicals!

Of course.

The point is.....do it anyway.

People, and our legislators, too....will respect you (or in some cases, at least not regard you as total barbarians).

Yep. FUDD, as in Elmer

Exactly. FUD = Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt, which is something Microsoft uses as part of their EEE process of Embrace, Extend, Extinguish.

What has become evident to me is that there is a segment (not sure what percentage) of gun owners for whom the fight is not nearly as serious as it is for others. While many of us view gun restrictions as violations of our rights and threats to fundamental freedoms, there are those gun owners among us for whom it goes no further than being a hobby. When they say: "Who needs an AR?" or "They aren't after my shotgun.", they are not necessarily visualizing using their bird gun to preserve freedom. For them, it is just a piece of sporting equipment. While they may be upset by their inability to hunt pheasants, it wouldn't upset them much more than losing the right to play golf.

Very true however I would contend that we will have much more success convincing these type of folks to vote against further gun restrictions than the left wing architect I just got done having supper with who feels that all guns are evil and should be melted down for scrap. Making up derogetory names for those we need as out allies can not help our cause. Just a thought.

Good point. So much of gun hate is purely visceral. If the person already doesn't mind holding, owning, shooting a gun, the rest should be relatively easy (easier'ish)

100% of people support less taxes, too, right up until you start forcing them to choose between slower 911 Fire/Police response, crappier schools or no road repair.

They are actually puzzled as to why we would have background checks on some sales and NO background checks on other sales.

This includes legislators.

That's a fact.

It's going to be a tough fight to keep it from being passed, so we need to increase our polite, reasonable but firm communications with legislators.

:flag:

I feel sorry for those gun owners who are so naive to believe that giving the Anti-Gun universal background checks won't ever affect their shotgun, revolver, or black powder guns. They are the same ones who say we need to send polite, reasonable, firm communications to our legislators. Unfortunately the re-districting ended up putting me in district 5 with Senator Saxhaug who has yet to respond to any of my communications, which I have found to be typical of most Democrats. I have never had much respect for him to begin even when he was not our senator, with and his lack of response to my very civil and polite communications has caused me to to make a commitment to do everything I can to see that he does not get re-elected. :angryvillagers: Rep. Anzelc claims to be a supportor of the 2nd Amendment and has answered a few of my communications on gun control issues and "Feel Good" spending issues, but has commented to me that he feels I am an "ultra conservative", while all I am saying is if your wallet is empty and your bank account balance don't have enough in it to fund your current lifestyle it is time to reduce your spending and forget about borrowing more money just to fund your next "Feel Good" projects!

I respect my legislators as long as they also respect my as a taxpayer and a voter. A major part of that respect is at least replying to my communications! Respect is a two-way street!

I guess it sorta comes down to how sensitive someone may be to bein' called a "Fudd"?!

As I understand it, we're simply referring to the cartoon character who was often pitted against Daffy Duck and/or Bugs Bunny?!

I don't recall Elmer doin' nothin' most any of us ain't done?! I mean, it ain't like we're suggesting they're flat out retarded?!

As I understand the reference, Elmer was strictly a hunter ... at that, never used anything but a shotgun?! I think that reflects the Fudd's mentality quite accurately?! ... "if you don't need a shotgun, you don't need it"?!

Again, those of us actually putting money/effort into preserving/restoring 2A rights, as of yet, have no other moniker fer such folks?! Put out a better alternative, and see if it sticks?!

... 'til then, if some Fudd wants to wet his bed 'cause I referred to him as a cartoon character, I reckon we really don't need him ... 'er, at least, we'll probly never otherwise get him, anyhow?!

FWIW, I've actually had arguments with such folks ... they believe the VPC/Brady propaganda ... that the NRA is a scam ... and that members are merely paranoid ... moreover, each of these people was, IMO, at least, borderline retarded! ... probly shouldn't be owning any gun ... even a shotgun! At which, IMO, something far more derogatory, would be more appropriate!

How 'bout dip*****s?! ... who's with me?! :|
