Probably not worth the effort, because by the time it's accomplished you maybe get him out a year early, and likely not before any gun control vote so the damage will have been done. Plus voters don't tend to support recalls unless the politician did something egregious, and you risk souring non gun owners who might be sympathetic to the issue but are annoyed that they have to do an election again.

I got the same form letter, but keep writing. I think 2014 will be a repeat of 1994 for the Democratic party if they pass anything, and remind him of that.

Here's a TED talk about effective communication with politicians. He suggests writing (yes handwritten on paper delivered with a stamp) once a month and provides a pretty decent template. http://blog.ted.com/2010/04/23/making_politica/ emails give the intern an easy way to bin the constituents on a particular issue, but I agree with this guy that the effort required for written letters carries some weight with politicians.
