Colt put out a position letter last month on that subject. It appears that their attitude is they have a tradition in CT and plan on staying.

It's not the LAWS you necessarily have to worry about, it's how the laws are regulated.

Really? That's news to me. http://www.drudge.com/news/167059/colt- ... onnecticut

The position they put out was (paraphrasing) we really have a strong tradition here and we would hate to leave, but the laws you are considering would make us feel very unwelcome...http://articles.courant.com/2013-03-18/ ... nufacturer

I'll bet Beretta does incrementally move out of Maryland over the next years, but In the end I'll bet Colt waffles and stays. Beretta is doing OK financially, and as a company they have a much longer tradition and more corporate integrity (IMHO). Colt is struggling and for them, the principle is likely to take a back seat to the dollars.

Hahaha, you're fooling yourself if you think Colt cares. They are in the business of making hella money, and their government and police contracts are the most important, lucrative, and only thing they care about. It's almost as silly as expecting Glock to stop selling to New York because of the SAFE Act. Sales to the public make up such a small fraction of their earnings that they are more than willing to throw us all under the bus in favor of those sweet, sweet law enforcement contracts.

Glock's US sales are about 25% LE and 75% private if I recall the statistics correctly. The private market's ability to pressure with the pocketbook would be a much larger threat to revenue than the LE market.

Isn't Colt owned by some larger corporation with other interests? I'm pretty sure that larger corporation doesn't give a damn about gun restrictions.

I wish some of these arms mfg companies would come to MN. We have some great toolmakers/machinist here that would love to work for you.

Actually colts will be starting to move its facilities out of conneticut, sounds like their gunna start with the AR15 banch will be moving to North Texas. They are opening a plant in breckenridge in stephens county. They have not officially announced the opening, but have started the application process. this was reported by cbs. so thier you go colts moving

Not quite accurate. It is the branch that makes competition rifles. And they are moving from Oregon, not Connecticut.

Yes. But they bought a facility way larger than what's needed just for the competition line. I think more news is coming.

This would be welcome news.

I understand the strong ties that these manufacturers have to Conneticut, but by staying in that state they also continue to contribute to a state economy that has been hijacked for the cause of making our lives more difficult. I can respect the decision for a company with such strong roots to stay in Conneticut, however I cannot support it.
