If you do not think that this legislation is not the first step in a larger political agenda, then I do not know how to explain that to you. Is there a part of shall not be infringed that is not clear?

The problem is that as soon as Harry Read announced that the bill passed the vote for discussion, the "amendment tree" was introduced and the "assault rifle" and mag ban bills were immediately attached to it. This bill will be one big mangled mess that will in NO WAY look like the original that you're ok with. But, because of all the amendments being attached, I've read that the whole bill will probably be shot down. I think that was the GOP's plan all along.

After seeing all the hidden details, I retract my statement. Thank you.

I'm beginning to think that the best way to kill this deal is the addition of many many many many amendments so that eventually no one wants it. :-P

Edit: oh geez, Snakeman already beat me to this.

"(4)(A) NOTWITHSTANDING any other provisions of this chapter, except for section 923(m), the Attorney General may implement this subsection with regulation"

Notwithstanding is a key word letting Holder add whatever he wants to this bill in the way of regulations and it will withstand the Supreme Court. It is a legal trick they are trying to foist off on us. Including a national gun registry and his regulations would supersede anything else in the bill prohibiting it.

This is a massive intrusion on our second amendment rights and needs to be stopped cold in the form it is in. Gun show background checks I can live with, rest of this is crap.
