So despite saying we're ok with regulations that help us, we're really not because even discussing it creates the opportunity for it to morph into something we don't want.

For once, the gun control proponents actually have a valid complaint.

And regulations help us how? I do not know which forum you have been reading but you must have me confused with a different H&H if you think I am "Ok" with any new regulations.

This one helps us because it gives us the means of getting a NICS check on someone we may sell a gun to that doesn't have a PTC/PTP.

Of course, if you just want to sell to anyone and didn't really care, I guess this is a burdensome process to have to deal with... if it WASN'T VOLUNTARY.

Yeah. The gov. never took something voluntary and made it mandatory

Once again, for now. Let me expound on this thought. If you admit that this idea is good, then does not your logic mean that NICS checks on every sale would also be "good" and if that is the case then why pray tell should it not be made mandatory? Infringement often seems to come in bits and peices and seems to make sense to sensible people at the time.

Which leads to the valid complaint that the gun control proponents have that we're not really interested in doing anything at all.

This is why we can't have nice things, like carry reciprocity and suppressors. :-(

Well, I thought I was pretty clear on that point.

Why should we be interested in doing anything at all? There are already plenty of gun laws on the books that don't do anything. Just because the opposition wants something doesn't mean that we automatically need to "do something". When we do, we lose freedom. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot.

Because I want a way to sell a gun to someone I don't know and be able to do a NICS check on them without going through an FFL.

So this is the reason you want it:

Because I want a way to sell a gun to someone I don't know and be able to do a NICS check on them without going through an FFL.

And this is how you try and twist our arms into favoring it:

This is why we can't have nice things, like carry reciprocity and suppressors.

I used to think your comments and attitude were kinda cute... sorta got a few people thinking. Now I just see it for what it is. Disruptive and counterproductive.

So we are now doing what you want? When do I get H&H day where we do what I want?

Well, you can't get what you want. According to your logic, someone could bring forth a suppressor bill, or a reciprocity bill, and you'd oppose it because someone might attach a magazine limit to it.

A more open NICS system is good for *everyone*. It's ridiculous beyond belief that pro gun people would even consider opposing this, much like a suppressor or a national reciprocity bill.

Oh wait... FFLs might oppose it because they'd lose business. So I guess it's not good for everyone.
