Lower taxes requires lower government waste (or more borrowing, but lets not go there). This is government waste in its purest form.

Why would a non gun owner purchase a gun safe?

...

You sound like my wife. "Hey, I bought this $800 jacket on sale for only $400! I just made us $400!" ;-)

Sounds like a plan

You two realize that, unless all of your firearm purchases have been from private parties without FFL involved, and you don't have a PTP/PTC, you are already on "the list", right?

They SAY they don't record NICS checks, but they do. They know how many long guns/hand guns you have purchased from FFLs.

I'm really not worried about one more tick mark from a safe tax credit. They've already figured me on their list, just like they have anyone else who has filled out a 4473.

Now I can take advantage of a sale price AND gin up a fake receipt to get credit for the full value!

Only suckers pay retail. ;-)

Why even buy a safe? Just get a fake receipt?
And is the deduction per individual or per household?
Always thought there should be a gun safe in every room.

I'm sure the rebates will be spectacular.

Hey, anyone wanna buy a gun safe? It's a tuff-lock 230, on sale right now for $1200 with an $1100 mail-in rebate.

Now we watch the fools rush out to buy a "Gun Safe" just to get an income tax deduction. I don't need no stinking gun safe. I have a 12' X 24' reinforced underground concrete bunker in my back yard with an access vault door in the basement with audio video security and an alarm siren audible for better than a half mile! Besides I have more tax deductions than I can use anyway.

Do you have a daughter named Jessica? Because I work with her.

Or else there are two dudes that did exactly this and I am jealous of both of you.

Seriously, this. After all the small government griping I've seen on here, I'm horrified to see people get behind this.

I take it the objections to all the other government waste was that you guys simply weren't receiving any of it?

Exactly. It's another source of information of gun registration via proxy. If they have a gun safe, they have guns. They may not know how many guns, seruials, etc, but they know you have them and that alone is enough.

The best security you have you just made useless. You told people about it. #1 is to STFU about such things. Just like the guy on Doomsday Preppers who has a huge underground missle base bunker went on TV about it, no no no no!! bad idea.

I am.

Carrying a gun is not the same thing as saying you have a bunker with 18 foot thick walls, 100,000 rounds of ammo, enough supplies to care for 40 people for 20 years, etc. I can relocate myself by getting in a car and driving away. Try doing that with a bunker.
