I thought you were a proponent of open carry?

I am.

Carrying a gun is not the same thing as saying you have a bunker with 18 foot thick walls, 100,000 rounds of ammo, enough supplies to care for 40 people for 20 years, etc. I can relocate myself by getting in a car and driving away. Try doing that with a bunker.

Bunker? You said getting a gun safe takes away your advantage, because they know you have guns. But you can open carry and they don't know you have a gun? You have a permit and they don't know you have a gun?

Your logic is dizzying.

I have to agree. If you have a permit, then "they" know you have a gun. If you open carry, talking about taking away the "advantage" is just a joke.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

They know I have a gun.
They can see me carrying that gun.
They don't know how many guns I have.
If I had a gun safe, and it was somehow registered, they still wouldn't know how many guns I have, but odds are good that I'd have more than 1.

In the end, it doesn't really matter because the way things are going, if you have 1 gun, it's too many for the government to let you have. You could buy all your guns via private sales, but once you get a PTC, all bets are off.

You're "biggest advantage" of them not knowing you have a gun magically disappears when it appears on your hip?

So, you can have an "advantage" with the guns you are NOT carrying, but not with the one you open-carry?
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

This is a reasonable attempt to secure guns..... 1200$ tax deduction saves you about $350 in taxes give or take... plus the sales tax on 1200 about $83 so the incentive would be a good sized safe for about $933.00

this would reduce theft, make the home security a little safer for small children .... everybody should have a home safe of some kind... just store some docs, birth certs and passports in addition to some guns and ammo .

Buy few safes now!! They'll be a run on them & dealers floors will be empty for years! Besides, you can sell the extra ones you buy later at a tidy profit!!

I'm thinking of a safe, just for the 3 boxes of 9mm ammo I have.
