To get something we want?

What you are doing is cutting off the nose to spite the face. Grandstanding. Being an operator. However, if you can somehow get Latz and Paymar kicked out of office and lose everything they have, I'd love to read more about it! How do you plan on making that happen?

How does that work?

We roll over on this one for them now, and next year say: "Hey. remember us: those guys that 'compromised' for you last year... So can we have SYG now?"

"Roll over"?

Even GOCRA has no problem with this bill. It's not gun control. It's administrative cleanup.

They should have stuck a suppressor bill on it.

But we live in a world surrounded by weak hearted individuals that say they are on our side.

You must be SUPER pissed at GOCRA for not opposing this bill! I bet you marched right to their offices and demanded your money back!

So just because gocra doesn't have a problem with it I shouldn't either, is that it? I'm not a memeber of gocra I am a member of a bigger entity...The United States of America! Born with inherent rights, one of which "shall not be infringed". You go ahead and blindly follow gocra, maybe after you sell out enough you'll get your suppressor.

Oh. What right is this bill infringing?

Never said it was(have not read it yet), only referring to the fact that it leaves the door open for sellouts like you to enable gun grabbers to harass me. Plainly put, grow a pair and stand up for your God given rights, without concession!

Maybe you should read the bill first. It does Nothing to enable gun grabbers.

And maybe you should recognize a political tactic for the future when you see it.

IMO, what they "seem" to be doing is just adding info to NICS. If they want to purify the gun owner pool to eliminate some bad apples I'm all for it.

OK, I have to confess to being confused between the state and federal legislation, and being a guy, I can admit when I'm wrong.

But I would still stand on the basic principle of negotiating that when we give up, or get something taken, we demand something we want in return.
And it wouldn't bother me in the least if when the proponents of this legislation going running home to their constituents, and waving this bill in their hand as an accomplishment, that their other hand is pressing a bag of ice against the family jewels where they just got kicked.(figuratively speaking, of course)

It's back! Gun Control Bill To Be reintroduced

My belief is that from this point forward, any proposed firearm legislation should include provisions that increase the rights, privileges and liberties of lawful firearms owners. Period. If they want to 'fix' the NICS system, that's great! I support that! But we should demand every piece of firearms legislation gives *us* something as well. I would hope that GOCRA would take such a position.

While I will agree that law enforcement and the courts have a lot of work ahead of them to clean up their house, but since they want this bill to require these agencies to get their S**t together lets require they pass a broad based "Stand Your Ground" law in the same bill.

Surely you have noticed that every time you turn around the Anti-Gunners are adding enhanced penalties for anything they can get to stick to the wall when they throw it and making them a reason to prevent someone from owning a firearm. Hell it's a wonder they haven't passed a law making it a misdemeanor or felony to spit on the ground or over the side of the boat when you are out fishing meaning you lose your 2A rights!

There's more than meets the eye. GOCRA stopped things from being introduced that Latz wanted.

He was determined to get something through. GOCRA told him what it would take to get it through, and Latz rolled over like a dog and got rid of everything objectionable with a delete all amendment, then replaced the text with what was supported by GOCRA earlier in the ortman bill. There's really no room for demands there.

Also note there is a difference between supporting, and not objecting to.

An organization that renegs, misleads, and backstabs wont be trusted by anyone at the Capitol. You can't do any good if you don't have a seat at the table.
