Rob nails it

I would hope that GOCRA would take such a position.

There's more than meets the eye. GOCRA stopped things from being introduced that Latz wanted.

He was determined to get something through. GOCRA told him what it would take to get it through, and Latz rolled over like a dog and got rid of everything objectionable with a delete all amendment, then replaced the text with what was supported by GOCRA earlier in the ortman bill. There's really no room for demands there.

Also note there is a difference between supporting, and not objecting to.

An organization that renegs, misleads, and backstabs wont be trusted by anyone at the Capitol. You can't do any good if you don't have a seat at the table.

There is NO difference between supporting and "not" objecting to, and this is what happens when you sit quietly by and let them keep their seats : http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/a ... 37748.html

Based on what did(and did not) happen in the MN state legislature versus other states, I think it's a safe be that 'we' had people not sitting quietly by, whether you heard the noise or not.
As far as who keeps their seats, that's the voters' decision to make, and most of the electorate supporting our adversaries don't listen to what our side says.
Heffay not withstanding, I don't think too many would have predicted the outcome of these past sessions.

I think this speaks superbly of GOCRA, and the folks they inspired to show up. :bravo:
To completely bastardize a phase often used on this topic:

It's back! Gun Control Bill To Be reintroduced

I agree, GOCRA really took the reins, and I'm sure that only a few people are in the know on all the details, and the day to day maneuverings that must have taken place. I told Andrew during one of the first hearings, that the only thing keeping MN from going the way of CO or NY was GOCRA. We all really owe those guys a debt of gratitude.

I'm sure the credibility of GOCRA in St Paul has gone up considerably since this whole thing started. If they were to announce that they would be moving forward on other things, say suppressors, I'm sure many of us wouldn't hesitate a moment to open our checkbooks for them again. Here's hoping for more good news from them in the future!!

It amazes me how anyone with an unpopular opinion gets called a troll and is cast aside. You people sell yourselves short. You were born with rights that you freely hand away because of a groups stance or fears that you subscribe to. I for one will not bend, my rights are not up for debate. When a group of people who attack your rights are allowed time to lick their wounds and regroup, they will undoubtedly do so. And they now do so with your blessing, you should be ashamed of yourselves and your behavior.

Tell us more. What has anyone in this thread 'handed away'?

What WILL you do?

I am also very grateful to the GOCRA volunteers who spearheaded the efforts to fight back the AWB this year. I don't presume to speak for them, but it seems to me that defense is the best you can hope for when facing both houses and the governor stacked against you. I realize that there are democrats that support 2a, but as long as Ds control the majority, the critical committee chairs will not be in our favor. I think the timing of a suppressor bill needs to be in conjunction with a session in which it has a chance to even be heard, let alone passed. This was not the year that it could happen.

Wow... common sense.

Emphasis added by me for hkrada's sake.
