A pair of Democratic lawmakers are proposing steep new taxes on handguns and ammunition, and tying the revenues to programs aimed at preventing gun violence.

Called the “Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act," the bill sponsored by William Pascrell, D-N.J., and Danny Davis, D-Ill., would nearly double the current 11 percent tax on handguns, while raising the levy on bullets and cartridges from 11 percent to 50 percent.

"This bill represents a major investment in the protection of our children and our communities, and reflects the long-term societal costs of gun and ammunition purchases in our country,” Pascrell said.

This bill has absolutely no chance of passing.

Given, but an ever pressing reminder that no matter how badly these Anti's get spanked, they will continue to push.

Make no mistake, given any chance, these slimy pols would drop something like this into a monster omnibus bill in the fleeting moments of a closing session, or hastily passed bill.

Let the Dems keep trying to pass gun control. Waste of time, effort, and goodwill -- and the NRA gets to keep printing money...
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

I blame the Doctors who delivered the anti gun people.
I figure that they all were born with their heads up their asses and the Doctors couldn't extract the head, thus causing all of us normal people nothing but problems.

How else could a person be that stupid.

There's been some stink lately about a bill that would remove the need for CLEO sign off on NFA forms, but would also add a "reasonable person" clause (with no definition whatsoever of exactly what reasonable means) and require fingerprinting and photos of all NFA trust members. Getting rid of CLEO sign off would be great, but the trust stuff is a huge can of worms.

However, no one is quite sure if it's a real thing since most of the links point to a 2012 bill.

Don't ever say crap like this will never pass! Remember obama care and all the other little goodies that congress has stuffed into other bills that virtually no one knew about until afterwards, or at least they claimed that they didn't know they were in the bills they passed. I seem to remember that there were a few of these type of inclusions in the budget bill the Minnesota legislature past last session too.

Well at least a few of the legislators were truthful when they admitted that they didn't read and understand the bills before they voted for them (?)! :o

I hate how children are used to hinder freedoms. Why aren't these blowhards complaining about alcohol which has a SIGNIFICANTLY larger effect on children's upbringing than guns? Oh yeah, democrats only care about following Team O.
