Just to be fair, cops are not treated any differently than non-cops in the statutes with regard to assault, etc. The problem is the infinitesimal probability of any given prosecutor running with charges against a cop.Lumpy wrote:I would love to see laws that would allow for stripping abusive police of the aegis of their badge, and trying them for assault as common criminals.
The only true differences are things like law enforcement officers' 'Bill of Rights'. Because they're special; if they were investigated the way you and your neighbors would be investigated, then they might end up in prison.
