Odd....but true - -

1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand..

Nope, I'm against both

Motobob wrote:2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression, and governments create prosperity.

Nope. I'm not for complete free markets, but the government has proven itself rather inefficient.

Motobob wrote:3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens are more of a threat than nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Iranor Chinese and North Korean communists.

Not at all. A true liberal would liberally interpret the second amendment, just like we do the other ones.

Motobob wrote:4. You have to believe that there was no art before federal funding.

This one doesn't make any sense.

Motobob wrote:5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV'S.

Not really. I am quite aware that, well before SUVs, the glacier over my cabin melted. On the flip side, you'd have to be pretty ignorant to think that we do not adversely alter the condition of the water and air around us, if only through sheer volume of waste.

Motobob wrote:6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being homosexual is natural.

Um, not sure where you're going with that one. I guess you have to be conservative to worry about other people's sex lives....

Motobob wrote:7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.

No, it is spread many ways. I had a patient recently that got hers through an intra-op cut while at work (she's a surgeon). The vast majority of the cases though are from unprotected sex.

Motobob wrote:8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-graders how to read or behave themselves is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

I guess I have more respect for our teachers than you do.

Motobob wrote:9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but PETA activists do.

Nah, I hunt.

Motobob wrote:10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it. Or that being a winner is somehow wrong.

Wrong again. I'm all for winners and losers in childhood games. It prepares them for life.

Motobob wrote:11. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.

No, they are both good, and they BOTH could be better. The ACLU could rabidly support the second, and the NRA could MORE rabidly support the 2nd.

Motobob wrote:12. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.

Nah, my bank doesn't charge fees.

Motobob wrote:13. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, or Abraham Lincoln.

Nope.

Motobob wrote:14. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not. And that black "doctors" are qualified.

Sorry, against "affirmative action"

Motobob wrote:15. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge. LIke them.

You are confusing socialism with liberalism.

Motobob wrote:16. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag queens and transvestites should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

Nah, I'd protect BOTH.

Motobob wrote:17. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right-wing conspiracy.

Nah, it isn't that vast.

You may need to stop and ponder your ascension to uber liberal. :!:

Nah, I'm actually more of a small "L" libertarian, but I am pretty liberal on the social side.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.

I wasn't sure if i was supposed to be insulted or cheering/laughing at some of these. But then I'm a bit of a centrist leaning slightly to the left. Of course in real life most of my friends are either Liberal or Libertarian. And no, they don't mix well.

Just call me a fence sitter. Hell i can't decide if I should get an XD40 or 45 much less make sense of the doublespeak from both libs and cons.
