Ah, where?

Here

Lastgunshop wrote:and why? This would only piss off more people and do we really need this, as a gun rights group?
Joel has a right to do so, but I wouldn't.

Why? I don't know. I can certainly understand the want to roast Champion and I think that there are some very serious issues there. Drawing attention to the matter isn't bad in and of itself, the manner that Joel chooses to do it in, well, that's his decision.
Mmmmm, bacontini.

But maybe his priorities are something closer to home?

I don't know that I would hook this to 2A advocacy. It may be coming from a 2A advocate but I think it's more shining a spotlight on something that smells like politics from Chicago.

I would, hook it to a 2A advocacy group. Only because it link to a pro-2A advocacy web site.

Well, we've had this arguement in the past regarding his apparent problems with police. Previously, he worked hard to become identified as an advocate for 2A. At this point, he can not be seperated from that role. It is my opinion and that of many others, that he is creating unnecessary antipathy between the 2a community and police in general by advocating so vociferously and negatively. Yes, there is a problem that must be addressed. But it is counterpoductive for someone linked so closely with the 2a community to be front and center on this. He has already lost a lot of support within the community as a result of his antics. It would seem that he is intent on messing up relations with law enforcement as well.

Don't get me wrong. I am not advocating for Joel or against him. I was answering Widge's question and giving my opinion on where I thought the commentary was coming from. Not that my opinion holds any weight what-so-ever. You are correct that it is very hard to separate or make distinction between Joel's commentary and his 2A commentary.

Hey, I'm in the same position as you are. Just another face in the crowd. But, my opinion that he is wrong to put himself out front and center on this, especially in the way he is going about it, is shared by others who are smarter, more articulate and more knowledgeable than I. If you accept the idea that he is currently identified as a well known advocate for 2A, you have to ask, is this a battle that he should be in? What is to be gained by the 2A community by this?

Well, you may think it's wrong, but, regardless, it's ALWAYS about Joel....

And that is why some of us go well out of our way to ensure not being associated with him.

Should he be? Well, that question is moot. He is. Let me ask this in return. Do we have someone willing to be a contrasting voice?

What is to be gained? Dunno. There are those who would argue that any publicity is good publicity. I don't necessarily agree that it is good publicity. I also don't think the intent to harm the 2A community is there either...
