Interesting 8th race

Early returns had Nolan up by quite a few votes. With 4.4% of precents yet to report, the margin has closed to 3571 votes.

I think we may be seeing a recount in the 8th.

Maybe, but recounts don't tend to turn out well for Republicans. I'm sure that boxes of extra Democratic ballots are being stashed in car trunks as we speak.

WCCO is reporting Mills called Nolan to concede the race this morning:

“I’ve given Congressman Rick Nolan a call this morning to congratulate him on his victory, and extend my thanks for a hard-fought race,” Mills said in a statement.

Usually recounts kick in when the difference is under 1/2% or 1%. The margin was just over 1% here.
Regardless, I doubt it'll be the last we see of Stu Mills III in Minnesota politics. He put on a very strong showing against a heavily entrenched incumbent. A hair cut will probably help the next time around.
