URGENT: STOP SHOOT FIRST IN MINNESOTA!
HOUSE TO CONSIDER DANGEROUS BILL

Dear Minnesota Brady Campaign Member,

Soon, the State House of Representatives will consider HF 498, a bill that would allow a gun owner to shoot and kill another person in public areas, even if their life were not in danger. This bill eliminates a citizen's duty to avoid a threat and instead allow the gun user to "shoot first" and ask questions later... or never.

CALL YOUR MINNESOTA STATE REPRESENTATIVE TODAY!
Tell him/her: "I urge you to oppose HF 498.
Deadly force should not be a first resort in public!"
Click here to look up your State Representative's phone number.

This legislation permits the average citizen to bypass our entire justice system by permitting him or her to assume the role of police officer, prosecutor, judge, and executioner -- but it doesn’t stop there -- this bill also protects the shooter from criminal liability even if they kill or injure an innocent bystander!

Allowing people to use deadly force as a first resort in public can have deadly consequences for innocent bystanders who can be killed or injured in the crossfire.

Here is what you can do today:

1. Call your Minnesota State Representative today!
Tell him/her: "I urge you to oppose HF 498. Deadly force should not be a first resort in public!"
Click here to look up your State Representative's phone number.

2. Forward this e-mail to friends, family, and colleagues in Minnesota.

3. Click here to contribute to our efforts in Minnesota and across the country.

For more information on this legislation and how to get involved in the gun violence prevention movement in Minnesota, please contact the Minnesota Million Mom Chapters and Citizens for a Safer Minnesota.

We must stop this dangerous piece of legislation! Please call your State Representative today.
Sincerely,
Sarah's Signature [image]

I got the same e-mail.

Reminded me to call my rep in support of the bill.

Gee, under this law a shooter could be policeman, prosecutor, judge and executioner, and also, he could shoot innocent bystanders!

Imagine that!

I guess you can fool some of the people all of the time, and those are the folks they concentrate on....

It's nicer than shooting him in his private areas.

Enjoyed a small amusement editing the Brady Bunch screed before I sent it off. Just a hunch, but I doubt the blissninnies would appreciate my meager efforts on their behalf

Followed that up with a note to the same representative reminding her of the thousand of precinct attending voters who'll be supporting this bill.

As I pointed out; it's for the children!
Fortunately, I wasn't cursed with the need to be liked.

I've been harping on this in other threads/boards, but at what point did *WE* (permit holders, law abiding citizens, senior citizens, homeowners, business owners, etc.) become the ones who needed to be "managed"? The anti's and the uninformed consider people who support the right to bear arms as "violent" people. Get to the real issue and that is it. They fear someone who has power in the form of a gun.

Question: How many permit holders are likely to shoot first, based upon their prior violent history?

Question: At what point prior to be raped, choked to death, beaten, or shot by a criminal do we need to determine their intent? As the law stands now you must be in the full "victimized" role prior to using lethal force - and considering the situations that require this way of thinking, law abiding citizens shouldn't be required to do much considerin'.

Question: Why must *I* as a law abiding citizen be limited in my rights to protect myself from those who have or are about to have a criminal record? (most violent offenders are known to the law)

Question: Who should be protected, someone who was committing a felony, or someone who was protecting themself from having felonious acts perpetrated upon them?
