BAE tells lies about Medal Of Honer recipient, loses job as

Postby KimberJoe on Tue Nov 29, 2011 4:54 pm

Sgt Dakota Meyer went to work for BAE in March of this year. He wrote a memo to his boss over the sale of advanced thermal optic scopes to Pakistan "We are taking the best gear, the best technology on the market to date and giving it to guys known to stab us in the back," Meyer wrote to BAE Systems manager Bobby McCreight. "These are the same people killing our guys."

BAE claimed is was a U.S. State Department decision to sell the advanced optics to Pakistan, not theirs. And they now are spreading lies that Sgt Meyer is mentally unstable and has a drinking problem, which cost him his job.

I'm not even sure what makes me more angry, this kind of treatment for a MOA recipient, or that our state department continues to equip our enemies with all the best gear.

End rant so I can try to cool off a bit/

That treatment for, I'm guessing, a retired Sgt. And Medal Of Honor recipient is horrible. I especially don't think he should've been fired for it.

I have no idea when they decided to sell this scope to Pak. But we did just run a high risk op. On their soil without any heads up. This may have been a gesture from us to them. It might also insure that our companies are still making profits on exports. Additionally it may light fires under people's asses to ensure we have the best equipment. Heck, we may already have something better that isn't public.

In the future, please post a link to the story, so people don't have to hunt for it. Thanks.

REUTERS VERSION OF THE STORY

By Jim Forsyth

SAN ANTONIO | Tue Nov 29, 2011 5:29pm EST

SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) - A U.S. Marine veteran who was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama is suing his former employer for allegedly mocking his military service and blocking his efforts to get a job with another company.

Sergeant Dakota Meyer worked briefly this year for BAE Systems OASYS, a defense contractor, providing advice and training on the development and sales of military-related products.

The lawsuit said that earlier this year, Meyer sent an e-mail to BAE Systems management objecting to a plan to sell advanced optic scopes to Pakistan. After the e-mail, it said, BAE manager Bobby McCreight "began berating and belittling Sergeant Meyer for ridiculous things."

BAE blows goats...and needs to get knocked down a peg.

Thats being said -- MOH or not, belittling your employer in public can occasionally lead to your termination as an employee. If the sale was approved by the State Dept, there's nothing necessarily "illegal" about it. Distasteful in light of current events, yes ... but I believe something about sausage making being compared to politics has been mentioned in the past.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.
