You see, I didn't understand it until I moved to Illinois, but us law abiding gun owners should be paying a tax for gang bangers who don't follow the law. But to be law abiding, I needed to apply to the state police for a permit to just own a gun or buy ammo. And if Emperor Rahm gets his way, I will need to register every gun I own and pay a fee every 5 years. Shouldn't be a problem though, because another bill just introduced would outlaw not only "assault weapons", but also 12 gauge shotguns. So these would need to be turned in to the cops.

Good times here in the Land of Lincoln.

I doubt it will ever see the light of day as actual law, but I guess anything is possible in a state like Illinois. If it was enacted into law, it should rightly be struck down by the courts as unconstitutional in light of incorporation doctrine.

Last time I checked, there were no restrictions on transporting ammunition across state lines, so what would prevent IL residents from crossing the border into Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, or Indiana and purchasing their ammunition in those states, sans "sin tax"?

Silly liberals. Thinking they can prevent criminal acts by restricting the rights of law abiding citizens.
