Ruger is taking a stand and wants us to help!

Postby gunforhire on Sat Jan 12, 2013 10:47 am

Ruger has set up a one stop notification that contacts everyone within your district and State from President on down for the 2nd Amendment. Real simple.

http://www.ruger.com/micros/advocacy/#

you fill in your contact info and they automatically send their form letter with your name on it to our elected officials. Please, take 2 minutes and do this
"You're not tactical enough to view that video. Practice some rolls for a while, maybe dual wield an airsoft pistol and an Xacto knife, then try again."

I think this is great, but can't help but wonder if this kind of thing gets me on a list of some sort that will come back to haunt me.

That was my first reaction. Name, address, email, and phone?

F you register anywhere, even on this forum, most people can find your info if they are amibitious enough. screw it, they can know where I live all they want. of they can pull my email address from this forum and cross check it to phone records. a Iphone or smart phoine is basically a location device with some features that let us call out and play games anyway. So, if they want you, they Will find you

Nice, I've already emailed most of them but why not remind them one more time. If you're worried about your personal information being out in the ether and have ever purchased a gun (NICS check), car, house, paid taxes, etc.... it's already out there. Just do it... :)

Any message to an elected official requires a full name, address, phone, email info or it's rejected.

If you want your voice heard, you cannot sit on the sidelines and worry about whether your on "a list". Trust me, were all on some kind of "a list" already.

Here is the message that is being sent:

Dear (Recipient),
I am a law-abiding citizen and responsible gun owner.
I am saddened by the tragic events in Newtown, Connecticut, but I believe that efforts to impose new restrictions on me and other lawful and responsible owners like me are misguided. Did you know that violent crime with firearms has declined since the Federal "assault weapons ban" expired in 2004?
Your focus should be on strengthening mental health care and improving the quality of data supporting NICs checks (National Instant Criminal Background Check System). Do NOT pass more gun laws; instead, work to enforce the more than 20,000 gun laws already on the books.
I am your constituent and I vote. Please represent me.
Sincerely,
(Your Contact Information)

I've been sending letters and emails for years to my reps on various issues. They represent ME and they need to know that I would like my opinion considered. Do not forget to send a message to your reps THANKING THEM for votes that you agree with and voicing a POLITE message of your disappointment when they vote against your wishes.

Remember, many of these politicians are more interested in power and securing reelection rather that representing their constituents.

They have to be reminded that VOTERS are the ones that hold the true power in this country and have been since 1776.

Oh excellent! It's on Ruger's own website! Maybe all the other gun manufacturers will take heed and set up the same kind of "e-mail your representatives" website. :D

Letter sent. I omitted P-Bo and the VP, since I know they could not care less about what I think.
