A few more bills....

Postby daveS on Mon Feb 04, 2013 7:57 pm

First time poster here, like many others, the recent events have called me to action!

As if the 8 prior bills wasn't quite enough, today 4 more were introduced;

http://wdoc.house.leg.state.mn.us/leg/LS88/HF0307.0.pdf
http://wdoc.house.leg.state.mn.us/leg/LS88/HF0298.0.pdf
http://wdoc.house.leg.state.mn.us/leg/LS88/HF0294.0.pdf
http://wdoc.house.leg.state.mn.us/leg/LS88/HF0285.0.pdf

HF 0307 changes PTC issuing authority to Chief of Police, the pessimist side of me wonders if this is because the recent stance taken by many sheriffs.
HF 0298 appears to allow local govt to issue their own firearms rules as long as they have a "clearly stated safety purpose"
HF 0294 spells out the hoops and red tape needed to go through in order to restore your firearms eligibility rights
HF 0285 regulates ammo possession by ineligible people, so how would that work? Need a background ck to buy ammo?

SPEAK NOW OR FOREVER DON'T HOLD YOUR PIECE!

This is pitiful, did any of the folks who are introducing this garbage actually grow up in this state? I cannot believe what I am seeing here.

Dave

Nice work uncovering more of these attempts.

You mention being called to action. Hit the phones and email and invite your friends to do the same

We are going to need all of our Out State family, friends, hang arounds, 2nd cousins, former college roommates whoever come together and start calling, emailing, snail mail there local reps. Im afraid the 7 county metro is lost. We must hold the out state DFLers to the fire and demand that they represent those that sent them to St Paul. Obama roofied all the local media, LE and all the DFLers. You can bet the left wing loons are calling 3x as much as the average gun owner bitching to there reps. I just wonder how much cash and p.r obama promised to give to all the dfl reps if they lean his way on this issue.

#298 (the local regulations one) has got to be put in there for Minneapolis. Isn't that exactly what they were asking for in their 'legislative session wish list' they put together last week?

What a ambiguous blob of crap that wording is. It would let a city do whatever they wanted. Ugh.

Yes, how would you like to deal with 9-10 different cities firearms laws while you drive from home to work? ugh.

HF0294 has a LOT of bad crap in it:

shall issue is eroded significantly: "substantial likelihood of danger" is changed to just a "likelihood of danger"; the sheriff only has to show a "preponderance of the evidence" (more likely than not) instead of "clear and convincing evidence" that there is that lowered "likelihood of danger" to deny a permit, and no attorney's fees are awarded for a successful challenge to a permit denial.

It also conflicts with HF237 which will be heard tomorrow because that bill wants to deny the ability to possess ANY firearm if you have ever been hospitalized, confined, or committed for any mental illness, alcoholism, or chemical dependency. The rehabilitation provisions in HF0294 only apply to a person committed, not "hospitalized" or "confined"

If you've ever been to detox you don't get to hunt. Sounds fair, right?

Expect more bills . These bills will be throw away bargaining chips and cover for some Reps and senators from certain districts !

Also this will be the anti gun crowds cover to say they compromised with gun owners and have not trampled your hunting and sporting rights.
As if that was meaning of the 2nd amendment!

No compromise. No quarter given. Those who have guns must not compromise on them for those who do not. I find it odd that those who are unarmed have nothing to fear from those of us who legally are; and those of are have much to fear (legally) from those who are not. The irony is blinding.

I have yet to see anything that addresses methods to disarm criminals.

A few more bills....

Postby Spinner on Tue Feb 05, 2013 2:31 pm

We need some republicans to introduce pro2A bills like WY and TX. 2Aers need to push the needle back towards current state instead of letting the gun grabbers drive. Any compromise on their bills is still + for them and - for us.

I would love to see a push for SOMETHING1 from our side. If we are going to "compromise", we have to be getting something out of them in return.

We should have Republican reps spam pro-2A bills in retaliation.
