Wednesday, Feb 6th Hearings at Capitol - DETAILS

Postby photogpat on Tue Feb 05, 2013 5:12 pm

I had to start a new thread

I will try to update this thread with the latest info about tomorrow - Feb 6th. Please make comments regarding the hearings in a different thread.

***********************************

They will be hearing HF 241 (Assault Weapons Ban) and HF242 (High Capacity Magazines) tomorrow, February 6th

Hearings start at 10am in Room 10 (just like today) and run through 12pm (noon). Moving forward, it sounds like they are going to be "ticketing" for entry to the hearings. Please get there as early as your schedule allows tomorrow to ensure you're in line when ticketing starts. Our opponents just "happened" to notice this morning's attendance, and so will be trying to get their people there earlier tomorrow. Aim for 8am and you won't lose. Public testimony will be done by written statement and by signup sheet passed around just before the opening. If today was any indication, they will likely NOT have time to get to the public testimony tomorrow morning. Not trying to dissuade anyone, just plan on a written statement.

There is NO meeting in Room 400S ahead of time for the remainder of the week...go straight to Room 10 in the Basement when you arrive.

There is NO EVENING SESSION on Wednesday February 6th.

More to come as I get updates from the Capitol tonight.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

I can't be there that early...but I am going to do my best to be at the hearings, even if I am off in a waiting room. Is it going to be easy to spot gorca to get a button?

So, any bets that this "ticket" scheme isn't just affirmative action for the gun ban crowd?

Is it okay to park in the Sears parking lot?

I've heard that Sears may tow, so park at your own risk.

And no ticketing is not affirmative action, it's a way to prevent chaos and keep the room at limit without going over. They used ticketing last night too, and probably over 90% of those in the room were pro-2A.

This could turn in to a game of who stacks the room first.

Overflow room already filling up. I walked in at 8:35 and saw a bunch a people migrating from downstairs to the overflow. Sounds like they are to capacity in room 10 already.

Sears' lot is not public parking. It's for their customers. That said- on many occassions I've parked on the south or west lot, walked into, and through the store, and out the east door, across Rice St to the capitol complex.
I don't think I'd recommend wearing a bunch of political buttons, t-shirts, or carrying campaign signs were one to attempt this. ;)

not likely. seems to me at most the anti gun crowd is 6 percent of the attendence.

they are however stacking the speakers with idiots, liars and false statistics

You're being way too kind.

Of course that's not how the media reports it-
just heard this on the channel 5 10pm news almost word for word, "...hundreds packed the hearing today.....proponents of the bill included local police officials and the FBI, speaking against the bill was a gun manufacturer and the NRA..." as the video played the packed overflow rooms and long lines
