It's too quiet

It's been too quiet lately. What's going on with the anti-gun legislation in Minnesota?

It's not the LAWS you necessarily have to worry about, it's how the laws are regulated.

I was down at the Capitol yesterday to observe Latz' SF235 being discussed before the Judiciary Committee. They were trying to figure out the financing.

There was push back from BCA and the courts on the reporting "within 72 hours" as that meant they'd have to work weekends. Ditto on the reporting of all felonies and civil commitments dating back to 2008 being reported to NICS. Senator Ortman had asked for data to be reported as far back as 1994 in her bill, and wanted language amended in 235 to reflect that. Courts and BCA objected saying the costs would be astronomical due to records not being digital that far back - "we'd have to review PAPER copies".

With the 72 hour language being changed, I believe it was then forwarded to Finance for detailed discussion.

Otherwise pretty ho hum meeting.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

I go to the Moms Demand Action Facebook site for Minnesota to see what is going on that front. Looks like they are doing a phone deal to call the Reps and Senators every Monday and Thursday. They are keeping the pressure up. Looks like I need to call and email again to keep the pressure on from our side. We all need to do that. It is too quiet right now in Minnesota especially with what is happening in Conn. and Maryland.

They've gotten busy working on other issues after we kicked their asses in the last battle.

They'll be back of course, but right now they are more preoccupied with other legislation.

They only have to win once per piece of legislation to screw us for quite a while. It's a bitch getting stuff repealed once it is in. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rules_for_Radicals

bigbad401 is right -- I haven't emailed anyone for a while...

This is what happens when the people on the public dole are able to use their unemployed time, to support the people that write their monthly "pay checks".

We also need to keep Rule 7 in mind...

RULE 7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news.
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the outcome of the vote.

Wonder what happens if we're we are all reading the same rulebook? I was actually pointing out that as progressive "radicals", they are likely following Alinsky's en vogue model.
