Heffay was right

Postby Holland&Holland on Thu May 02, 2013 9:28 am

Well, time to eat crow and I will gladly do so. Back when the gun debate was going on at the state level. Our good friend Heffay poo pooed the sentiment that something was going to pass in MN. At that time I stated that if that came to fruition I would start a post stating that Heffay was right. At this time with the admission of the House that they will not take up a gun bill this year, it appears that Heffay was in fact correct though I do also firmly believe that this was due in a large part to a large group of this forum, GOCRA, the NRA, and others who did their part to stop it.

So with that, as promised and without further ado... HEFFAY WAS RIGHT.

And thank you my fellow gun owners for defending my rights.

My appreciation as well. We have a strong gun culture in MN, which is why I figured the odds of anything passing was pretty much non-existent. Minnesotans should be proud!

With the title of this thread, it will probably break the view count record ;)

"At this time with the admission of the House that they will not take up a gun bill this year" .... "this year" is the key phrase.
Sparkles is/was only partially right.
The anti-gunners in Minnesota, and across the Nation, are NOT going away and are NOT giving up.
They are simply regrouping and planning a "better" strategy,
They are also waiting for the next gun related tragedy, which will allow them another chance to fan the flames of outrage against "gun violence".
IMO it isn't appropriate to hand him any acknowledgment of being right in this regard until this 2A battle is finally settled .... if it is ever really settled.
We may never see that day.
In the meantime I would suggest postponing the consumption of crow, and that you qualify your acknowledgment with the words "so far".

I agree that the antis will not go away. I hope we don't have any more mass shootings, ever, but I think that is unrealistic. They will push hard again the next time one occurs. In the absence of that, the legislature MAY be even a little less inclined to touch hot button issues next year with elections right around the corner. I think our best bet is to not forget how it felt this year and concentrate our efforts toward electing as many representatives as possible who will be on our side when needed.

I'll call it now: No new gun control bills will pass next year either, for exactly this reason.

While you might be right again, I will thank everybody for keeping up the fight.

Does this mean if, at some point, a bill is passed ... we can tar 'n feather him?! :?

Probably easiest to use the ADA to make that happen.

If you'd said "we can stop these bills", I'd have agreed with you. But you said "they won't pass", which to my ears sounded too much like "we don't have to do anything". And if we had done nothing, they would have passed.

Agree we need to focus on getting the right people in office. Vote like we do in Wright County, we may get what we want. But wait, will not happen in the metro. Paymar will win or someone like will, gun banners all.

Keep electing idiots like Dayton and Franken, well you know what we get... TX is in my retirement plans.
