Sheriff Bellows (Dakota County) not running for reelection

"I have decided not to seek another term as Dakota County Sheriff in the 2014 fall election."

This could be interesting. Did Sgt. Mitch Scott say if he would ever run again?

Sheriff Bellows (Dakota County) not running for reelection

I've lived in Dakota County for 5 days. Is Bellows decision a positive or negative?

It's a positive right now. Before Bellows, Gudmundson was very good with turnaround time but never made his report to the BCA on time. Since Bellows took over turnaround time has gone to the maximum and he's making up numbers for the annual report same as Hennepin or Ramsey counties. I'd like to tell them if they have 3 full time deputies doing permits it shouldn't really take 30 days for my renewal right?

Bellows has also publicly supported an AWB.

Dakota County profited about $100,000 last year, even after paying for 2 full time staff members to process about 5-6 permits a day.

Bellows has shown no interested in fairly reducing his permit fees, and charging "actual costs" as required by statutes.

Forgive me, but I'm now a little worried about who may be running soon and whether or not we see their true colors. Bellows after supporting a FIREARM Ban( not AWB, there is no such thing. I mean you don't call it an Eating Spoon do you?) was touting the number of permits he's approved. As if he had a choice to do so in a Shall Issue State.

Mitch Scott was a strong 2A candidate that ran last time. I hope he runs again.

It was reported in the local rag this week that Chief Deputy Tim Leslie (recommended by Bellows) has decided to run.

Rob, taken from the DCSO website.
The Permit to Carry application fee in Dakota County will be $75

According to the 2013 BCA report we are up to at least five full time employees and I was still told it would be the full 30 days.

It took 21 for my renewal.
