*PROTECT MINNESOTA SIGNATURE EVENT PLANNED FORJUNE 9 *
*Fundraiser to showcase prominent Twin Cities talent at Varsity Theater*
*MINNEAPOLIS —* On Monday evening, June 9, Protect Minnesota will hold a
fundraising show at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis. The event,
“Happiness: Imagining Childhood Without Gun Violence” will showcase amazing
Twin Cities talent and will feature local youth. All proceeds from the
event will benefit the organization in its statewide efforts to prevent gun
violence.
"Happiness" is a sequel to last year's "To Life!" show and the brainchild
of director Josh Campbell.
Among the performers will be well-known Twin Cities singers/actresses *Jamecia
Bennett* and*Joetta Wright*.
Bennett is the lead singer of the Grammy Award winning musical group
"Sounds of Blackness," and has toured the world performing with Janet
Jackson, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle and many
others. Wright is an actor and singer in the Twin Cities, known to
audiences for amazing performances at the Guthrie, Penumbra, History
Theater, Chanhassen Dinner Theatre and Stages Theater Company.
General admission tickets are $25. VIP tickets are $100 and include a
