We have for years. First-time domestic abuse convictions are misdemeanors.

5th degree assault is a misdemeanor and in MN, you can lose your right to possess a handgun for three years upon a conviction.

Lautenberg amendment takes it away for life.

An ofp can be put in place in MN now for up to 50 years. It's an automatic 24 month term now based on nothing but someone having to say, "I'm afraid."

Saw that Former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was in town supporting this yesterday. I agree with the above statement. We are already way too far into becoming an Orwellian State if you ask me.
