Another Strib "Arsenal"

Another of the Stribs huge 14 gun "Arsenal".

This guy was in the wrong and rightfully sentenced but I hate the constant Strib bias...

"Oberender accumulated an arsenal including semi-automatic rifles, an AK-47, a Tommy gun and various shotguns and handguns by lying on applications to possess or purchase firearms."

I hate it too, but...
From merriam-webster.com

ar·se·nal noun \ˈärs-nəl, ˈär-sə-\

: a collection of weapons

: a place where weapons are made or stored

: a group of things or people that are available to be used

So the term is technically correct like it or not.

The underlying problem here is if the guy is considered too "dangerous" to own a gun why wasn't he locked away or in a padded room somewhere?

Correct and accurate, but still the pejorative term choice in their advocacy journalism propaganda context. I also wince at;

Semi-automatic
High capacity
Thousands or hundreds of rounds for normal active shooters supply
"Live" ammo
High powered for varmint caliber ( What is a big game round then? Super powered? )

Take it folks have never taken creative writing classes. They right this **** to sell rags. Choice of words mean everything and the more colorful and stuff they can make it, people eat it up.

"Man has bunch of guns" or "Minnesota criminal with arsenal of high power assault rifles arrested and convicted of weapons charges."

Which is going to elicit the bigger reaction.

Welcome to psych101. The army writer in FMJ even got that bit plain as day.

Why do you wince at semi-automatic?

I cringe when the MSM reports "assault weapon/rifle", but the term semi-automatic IS the correct term for many rifles, shotguns, and pistols.

As I said, correct but used with pejorative intent. They know darn well the low-info sheep see rapid fire, even machine gun when the media use semi-automatic as a descriptor. They have fanned the flames so often mixing in automatic, assault weapon, sub-machine gun, spray X hundred rounds per minute, military type, et al that much of the left base sees no difference. My complaint is that it is journalism with an agenda, not to objectively report. So I wince.
