Does anyone know what the status of the MN/ND reciprocity bill is ?
I can't find it in any news stories. Thanks.

Info is in the first paragraph of the post I linked...

VICTORY!
Today, the Minnesota House Public Safety Committee approved the Public Safety Omnibus Bill, HF849.
The omnibus bill includes:
* Rep. Eric Lucero's interstate purchase bill, HF830
* Rep. Jim Newberger's emergency Powers bill, HF722
* Rep. Jim Nash's capitol notification bill, HF372
* Part of Rep. Dan Fabian's reciprocity bill, HF305
Being included in an omnibus bill means that the measures have a fighting chance in the Minnesota Senate, where Sen. Ron Latz has refused to hear any pro-2A bills.
The omnibus bill now heads to the Ways and Means committee, and then to the House floor.
The bill passed the Public Safety committee with a roll call vote of 15-2, but the gun amendments were accepted with no opposition.

Status of HF305 as a standalone bill:

One word was stricken from the previous law. The part that was included in the bill simply removes the word "substantially" from the text of statute. Instead of requiring the potential reciprocal state's bill to be substantially similar, the new statute, if passed and signed, would only require the potential reciprocal state's law be similar.

If this does pass, when would reciprocity with ND take effect?

The statute would take effect on Aug 1, 2015

*HOWEVER*

We will not get reciprocity with ND until and unless:
-The Commissioner of Public Safety does his required annual review.
-The Commissioner finds that ND's bill is similar and does not put ND on the list of states not similar. The determination of which state's laws are similar still rests with the Commissioner and he or she can decide during the annual review that ND is not similar. The criteria for determining which states have similar laws is not objectively defined in statute and such criteria are still left up to the Commissioner.

Whether we get reciprocity with ND or not isn't positively established by this change. This change may improve the chances for reciprocity with ND, but is not a slam dunk. The final determination still rests with the Commissioner.

With the political pissing match between mn and nd, don't ever expect it.

Pissing match? You mean the war of western aggression?

Mn and nd have been at each other for hunting to reciprocity to energy for over 20 years.

That's the biggest reason for no reciprocity with nodak.

Each state ag has taken the other state to court so many times its like two kids bickering who's dad is better.

Given what I've seen, the pissing match on reciprocity is primarily a Minnesota issue.

I would like to see Minnesota statute changed so we accept a permit from any other state. This pissing contest over whose permit is good enough is ridiculous. Permit holders from any state are overwhelmingly law abiding upright citizens.
