No one, unless it's his mother running, would endorse a candidate four years in advance of an election, and without even knowing who is running. I would have been very surprised if he had said anything other than what he said, which was pretty non-committal either way.

I thought he could have phrased it better so as to come off neutral, yet not negative to Palin. The way I read the article, he came off as him being negative to her. OTH, you may be right, he may want to endorse Obama next time. :hmm:

Now he may not support her if she runs in 2012? The only reason I voted for McCain was because of his running mate Palin.

That may have just been spin, too. We don't have the transcript of the interview, just the edited story.

McCains opinion on the 2012 candidate is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned. The sooner the Republican party distances itself from McCain and his views the better.

A friend told me that one, he's a nam vet. I thought he was concerned about his own mortality, he just retired a couple weeks ago. But, he was thinkin if McCain was elected he'd croak and Palin would take the reins. I liked the way he thought! 8-)

How the question was phrased, edited etc can make a simple point seem horrendous.

He might have just said he was willing to support her IF she ran, and Tim Pawlenty is due praise as his campaign chair here and in doing LOTS more behind the scenes regarding McCains run. Even hearing the response in his own words, one wonders how the context formed the answer. For all we know, there might have been some nasty stuff that went on we never heard about....

That said, I trust the media to accurate build and portray storys about as much as I believe my wife will buy no more shoes.

Remember that the average is going to be skewed a lot by those vets that died very early due to complications from injuries, chemical exposure and elevated suicide for those that couldn't cope with trauma etc. Also now that I think of it aren't most Vietnam vets barely 62 anyway? My point being the expectancy is a joke because a huge percentage of those vets are still alive and still clicking away the scale past that 62 value which means the average is going up every year and will likely continue going up.

My conclusion, that number is fictional.
