Wis. gun ban proposal.

They just keep throwing crap hoping it'll stick. When will they learn?
Now the Wisconsin Dems have a proposal to ban all sales and possession of "assault" rifles and shotguns, and AR/AK pistols. Possession would be a felony.

A bill introduced by four Assembly Democrats would establish prohibitions on a variety of rifles, shotguns and pistols with no provision to grandfather.

For semi-auto rifles with a detachable magazine, having the addition of a pistol grip; adjustable, folding or thumbhole stock; bayonet mount, threaded barrel, muzzle brake or compensator would deem them an assault rifle.

For semi-auto pistols with a detachable magazine, having a barrel shroud, weight of 50 ounces or more, threaded barrel, stock or second handgrip, would classify it as an assault weapon.

For semi-auto shotguns, possessing a fixed magazine capable of holding more than 7 shells, a detachable magazine, forward grip or an adjustable or thumbhole stock would rule it an assault weapon.

It doesn't stand a chance of passing, but it seems the gun rights battle has fully moved from the federal into the state level. You guys across the river need to contact them and give 'em hell.

Yeah, fortunately there's a bit more to the state than Madison, which would probably ban cheese if it could.

Guns America posted an update to their story on this at the bottom of the article

https://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/wastre ... -gun-bill/
UPDATE:

"Call it democracy in action or the collective wrath of the gun community, but Subeck and her cohorts have decided to reassess their plan to ban modern sporting rifles in Wisconsin.

“After receiving feedback from some of our colleagues regarding the circulation of a preliminary draft banning semiautomatic assault weapons, the other authors of the bill and I have determined that we will work with the Legislative Reference Bureau to make some revisions to the draft bill to address some concerns that have been raised,” Subeck wrote this week.

“While LRB 3635 was not intended to impair Wisconsin’s rich hunting heritage and those who annually participate in it, our state does need to have a serious and meaningful conversation about gun violence,” she wrote. “We will be working with the Legislative Reference Bureau, Legislative Council, and others to ensure that a future bill draft corrects any drafting errors and unintended oversights to ensure more consistency with our current hunting and sporting regulations.”
Chalk that up as another victory for gun owners and the 2A!"

Any time a politician uses the word "conversation", you know they are trying to screw you.

Translation: they were going to shove a law they think everyone ought to obey down our throats, but enough people protested to make them fear for the next election. Time to backtrack and make soothing noises.
