Rand Paul, Whoopie Goldberg, and The View

Postby greenfarmer on Fri Jan 08, 2016 7:52 am

I sure hope none of you are fans of The View. Rand Paul had to educate old Whoopie Goldberg about guns. There's many clips you can find online about it. I'll post one. But this woman claims to be a gun owner, yet in one clip she says something about spent shell casings, and you can clearly see they haven't been shot in the picture, and she's calling all weapons "automatic weapons"...

People in the media, really, really really need to keep their mouths shut when they can't distinguish between spend and unspent shell casings, and automatic, to semi-auto guns. They are part of the reason there's so much misinformation out there.

...and she wouldn't answer Rand Paul's question about how she would react if a future president issued an EO censoring "The View". (that's an EO I could get behind!)

It's too bad his reasoning bounced right off her thick head.

How do people watch that show? Listening to them gave me a horrible headache.

So Whoppie said that there "automatic" weapons should be banned.

Rand was very generous and gave every opportunity for Whoopie to fix her mistake (and save face) by saying something along the lines of, "what you really mean is semi-automatic weapons....."

Nothing registered in Whoopie's head about other rights (like freedom of the press) being managed by Executive Action (btw, not sure, but Executive Action and Executive Order are NOT the same thing)

Whoopie once again ignorantly said that "automatic" weapons need to be banned (the whole audience hooted with glee)

So Whoopie thinks "automatic" = "semi-automatic" (bullet spraying death machines only for police since they are offensive weapons....er, um, why would police need offensive weapons?.... I digress, sorry)

At that point Rand should have asked Whoopie what kind of weapons she owns. If she responded anything other than a revolver, he should have asked if she would turn in her semi automatic weapon because she says they should be banned.

However, looking at Rand's expressions, he knew it would be a useless discussion because of her thick skull.

I can tolerate ignorant people as long as they try to educate themselves.

Yes! :rotf:

I watched the clip and thought Paul was extremely polite to people who knew absolutely nothing about what they were saying. Very professional. He set a good example for us.

I'm afraid that I wouldn't have been that polite.

I still don't know why Paul just didn't ask Whoopie what TYPE of gun she owned. :cogitating: Paul had a golden opportunity to show what a clown she is right at that moment.

Those willing and able to recognize Whoopee Goldberg's intellectual capacity have done so long ago.
Yet another exhibition of her ...acute limitations...wouldn't likely change anyone's opinion.

The expression on Paul's face suggests he's figured out he's in a room full of 6 yr olds.(with apologies to 6 yr olds)
