Justice Scalia has died

Postby jshuberg on Sun Feb 14, 2016 3:08 pm

The Republicans need to hold out for a new president to be crowned. They're going to catch all holy hell, but need to push this out a year. They also cannot allow the senate to go into recess or Obama will use the recess appointment.

Brace for impact. This is going to be one hell of a crazy, hateful year.

Justice Scalia has died

Postby jshuberg on Sun Feb 14, 2016 3:28 pm

Well, damn. It looks like things might be much worse than I thought. The senate is *currently* in recess, so Obama may be able to make a recess appointment anytime between now and Feb 20th, that doesn't need to be confirmed by the senate. The recess appointment will serve for at least the rest of the year.

:o Screwed, and not even kissed. However, I think there is a clause that says it is only valid until the end of the next session?

It's not the LAWS you necessarily have to worry about, it's how the laws are regulated.

Yes, but just think what could be done in 11 months with no roadblocks.

I've had a knot in my stomach since learning of his death. This is very bad. :(

It's time for the Republicans in the Senate to grow a pair and fillibuster till a new President is sworn in. And it won't be the Hilderbeast as her numbers are sliding downward on a daily basis and I'm pretty sure the FBI is about to bust her balloon. It won't be Bernie either as he's too whack to be taken serously by anybody except college kids who never held a real job. The next President will be a Republican...maybe Trump, maybe Cruz, maybe Rubio, But I'm pretty sure the dems are toast. So....hold out until after January 2017.

And yeah, I would NOT put it past Obumer to appoint the next judge during a recess. He's the kind of sleezeball to do it.

Since when is an autopsy not required? This is weird that the family will not want one. Would think when someone dies by themselves they would do one. Another weird thing is being pronounced dead over the phone. Way weird.

How long before the conspiracy theorists add Scalia's body to the 54 or so deaths associated with the Clintons?

Why are we always on the precipice of losing our 2A rights????

I would be careful about using terms you may not want your candidate being called. Drudge Report linked to an article that reported the Democrats in 1960 passed a resolution in the election year to potentially keep President Eisenhower from making a recess appointment to SCOTUS during an election year. But the article also reports all of Eisenhower's appointments to SCOTUS initially were recess appointments subsequently approved.

Conspiracy or not, not having a autopsy on a person who died with no one around has to make you wonder WTF is going on.
As for our 2A rights, the socialists or any other group would need to disarm america 1st for them to ram down our throats there way of life forced on us. Since all my guns were stolen in a breakin awhile back, I don't have to worry about the knock at the door in the middle of the night coming after them.

At the age of 79 one is allowed to die of natural causes, if there is such a thing. This guy went out the right way. I'd rather go that way instead of being tortured in an intensive (expensive) care unit for months on end.

Age 79, poor physical condition...

My condolences to his family, and the nation.

Sounds like the judge spoke directly with his primary care physician who indicated he had a number of health problems and it had been recently deemed too risky to proceed with a shoulder surgery that had been prescribed. People who want to be chased by black helicopters will always assume there's a conspiracy afoot, this seems pretty cut and dry he died of natural causes in his old age... but whatever feeds the paranoid delusions.

Conspiracy theories make for better headlines and talking points. Next it will come out that he was hunting with Dick Cheney
