Bill introduced - Process NICS disputes within 60 days.

Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) is pushing legislation he says would help people clear up inaccurate information in the FBI's background check system.

I saw that in the news, but don't understand the problem.

Did FBI suspend the appeals process? That just doesn't seem like something we'd find out like this.

They did. They stopped processing appeals about six months ago, but it wasn't widely reported. I heard about it through the NRA.

Back in January all the agents that were handling appeals were transferred to 4473 processing due to increasing load:

It's one of the things Obama actually addressed in his beginning of the year Gun Control Executive Order speech: 230 more examiners for processing.
