wasn't there a retired LEO that got in trouble in a Courthouse in Two Harbors or somewhere in Cook County? I thought he shot someone in the courthouse...........

Anyway, the point is that LEOs, although Policing is a noble profession mostly carried out by reputable and honorable people, but like any population, there will be outliers that make an extreme status "above the law" untenable.

I'm not so sure it helps us. It just reinforces the Them vs Us mentality and creates a perception in the public that LEOs (even retired) should receive special treatment.

Agreed. If they are retired they are no longer a LEO. They should have to play by the same rules as the rest of us. If those rules are too restrictive then the rules should be changed.
