GOCRA?

The MN gun owners Political Action Committee was formed as its own entity, in response to some very specific items and activities that only a PAC could do.

Since that time, the PAC leadership created the MN Gun Owners Caucus. I chatted with one of the leadership folks at the MWCA show, and it sounds like they are also working on some sort of education program. i don't quite get how all the 503/c4/R2D2/CP3O stuff works, but it sounds like the leaders of the PAC/MNGOC are working a cohesive stratergy from a couple differnt angles.

GOCRA, on the other hand, seems to be collecting checks.

YMMV

I don't speak for GOCRA, so can't answer for them.

MNGOPAC was formed with GOCRA's blessing, as several of us had volunteered there, to deal with election issues that a 501c4 cannot do. We've since launched a very integrated organization, the MN Gun Owners Caucus, which includes MNGOPAC, and an education oriented 501c3. This is similar to the setup of other successful political organizations.

We led the 2017 legislative efforts in coordination with the NRA and GOCRA President Joe Olson, who testified on both bills.

We'll be at the upcoming MWCA show this weekend - hope to see you there!

Please help us understand what initiatives the donated money will go to for these three organizations. I assume they cannot freely pass funds between each other. Thx!

Hi -

Simplified version:

MN Gun Owners PAC: Direct and independent expenditures in support of pro-gun rights candidates for MN House, Senate, and State Constitutional Offices (Governor, etc). We've been highly successful in building a Pro-2A majority in the MN House & Senate. Endorsement of candidates. Digital advertising, phone banking, door knocking, direct mail, and grassroots methods. Website: http://www.mngopac.org

MN Gun Owners Caucus: Lobbying, legislative agenda, grading/rating candidates, voter's guides, activism, legal action, dealing with government entities that infringe on your rights, etc. -- Website: http://www.gunowners.mn

MN Gun Owners Support Fund: Educational initiatives, firearms safety program, at-risk youth program (not yet launched). Donations are tax deducible (501c3)

No one at our organizations draws any sort of salary.

Hope this helps,
Thanks,
Bryan

Update three years later - GOCRA leaders are all retired at this point and while still active individually and the organization still technically exists, Professor Olson would tell everyone to support the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus and our political fund, the Minnesota Gun Owners Political Action Committee.

Join the Caucus at http://gunowners.mn
Donate to the Caucus at http://gunowners.mn/donate
Donate to the Political Action Committee (electioneering, etc) at http://mngopac.org/donate

Read a bit about the Caucus's 2019 results at http://gunowners.mn/results

Questions always welcome at contact@gunowners.mn

Thanks!

One note, in 2018 we hired Rob Doar on full-time as political director and lobbyist. He continues in that role today.

Hands down the most effective pro-Minnesota gun owner organization in existence today. Think about providing them financial and physical (go to the rallies at the state capital) support.
