Despite a pro-gun rights President in the White House and Republicans in control of Congress,
gun owners face a new and dangerous threat at the state and local level—a “gun violence tax.”

Thanks to a tortured ruling by the Washington State Supreme Court, the gun prohibition lobby
has reloaded to use this tax for an assault on gun ownership.

Gottleib is the most successful pro 2A attorney in the country and will be fighting this particular case all the way tonthe high court. Everything about this particular case stinks of corruption, especially the campaign promises of expected revenues compared to what was actually raised. They promised voters (I forget the actual amounts) certain revenues and failed miserably. Essentially, all gun buyers just drove 15 minutes out of the city and bought their guns in the next town. But it's hurt the last few remaining gun stores that haven't moved out, yet. Ultimately, it's a poll tax. I can't imagine that without activist judges ruling, that this will stand. But as it is, this is dead on arrival anywhere other than democrat ruled cities (unless states have preemption protections), including on the federal level.

What limits, if any, exist on the power of a government to enact revenue raising taxes? The NFA is in theory merely a stamp tax.
