I can't imagine it's actually something that was introduced with any thought that it would succeed. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be vigorously opposed, of course, but it's just ridiculous.

Davis is currently embroiled in a Farrakhan scandal that broke this week, as he is came out as an apologist for their anti- Semitic views. This is nothing more than a calculated distraction.

There’s a part of me, a very large part, that wishes Trump would become the evil fascist that the Liberal Terrorists™️ claim he is. He should round them all up and give them something to really cry about.

Wow, this jerk is an elected official too. Can't believe his constituents haven't called for removal.

Another case where people don't understand things. Good news though you can buy a shotgun receiver and many rifle receivers and circumvent the tax because they are classified neither as firearms nor a receiver designed to accommodate an interchangeable upper.

50% ammo tax... guess more and more people will get into reloading.

‘(1) Articles taxable at 20 percent:
‘‘(A) Pistols.
‘‘(B) Revolvers.
‘‘(C) Firearms (other than pistols and revolvers).
‘‘(D) Any lower frame or receiver for a firearm, whether for a semiautomatic pistol, rifle, or shotgun that is designed to accommodate interchangeable upper receivers.
‘(2) Articles taxable at 50 percent: Shells and cartridges.’’.

Is this on top of the excise tax already on the firearms?

Seattle and Cook County, Illinois both imposed a firearm and an ammunition tax. Still in place AFAIK.

I cannot speak for Illinois, but in Seattle, this resulted in all but one shop either closing or moving out of city limits.
