But he said "common sense".

I got that reply too. I responded to Ron that using the phrase 'common sense' when referring to gun laws and restrictions isn't really sensible. Plus some other stuff that may hopefully sink in.

Well, I agree with two of his common sense things.

Enforce the current laws

Have the mental health system talk with the gun purchasing system.

Too bad they are already supposed to do it, so "virtue signaling" is useless.

Sounds like he heard from more than a few who normally don't get involved.

We have a statewide preemption that will block most of what they are trying to do, but cities do have the authority to impose "reasonable" zoning ordinances.

Are there any suggested changes to zoning, in the proposals?

Because they would actually stick.

Such as not allowing gun related businesses in their commercial zone?

Or requiring them to not be located within x feet of any school or church or park, where x is carefully chosen so that every commercial location in the city is excluded.

I can't tell you the number of public meetings I have sat through. Rarely are they productive. Once in awhile there is a glimmer of hope but most times it makes you question the validity of the concept of self government.

Short answer: We won!

Long answer: They couldn't have backed away fast enough after every testifier spoke against the proposed resolution - and the crowd was ~95% gun rights supporters and the place was packed.

We should have video up by tomorrow from the council meeting. I understand it's quite entertaining.

Some additional details on Caucus FB at: https://www.facebook.com/gunownersmn/ph ... =3&theater

Thanks to everyone who called, emailed, sent letters, and showed up tonight!

Thanks,
Bryan

Which means there's a good chance that they'll try to back-door some anti-gun zoning regulations at the next planning commission meeting, where people don't pay as close attention.
