House Democrats plan Second Amendment vote

Postby yukonjasper on Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:54 am

Anybody else see this?

House Democrats are leading an effort to vote in the dead of the night to take away the Second Amendment rights of millions of Americans.

According to Breitbart <https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/02/25/house-democrats-plan-vote-to-criminalize-private-gun-sales/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+breitbart+%28Breitbart+News%29> , Democrats are planning to advance legislation that would criminalize private gun sales between owners.

The disturbing and vastly overreaching legislation is expected to be put to a floor vote in the House this week — and there’s hardly any media attention on this issue.

Most Americans have no idea about this measure and what the Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives is about to vote on.

Democrats introduced H.R. 8, which is in honor of the January 2011 attack on Gabby Giffords, where she was shot during a campaign event.

Here’s more from the Breitbart report:

H.R. 8 would outlaw the private gun sales Americans have enjoyed since December 15, 1791, the date on which the Second Amendment was ratified. This would criminalize a neighbor who sold a gun to lifelong neighbor without first getting government permission via a background check. It would also criminalize a friend for selling a gun to lifelong friend without government permission.

Ironically, the bill would have done nothing to stop the attack on Gabby Giffords because her attacker did not buy his gun privately. Rather, he passed a background check to acquire the gun retail.

Moreover, H.R. 8 would have done nothing to stop nearly every mass shooter to date in the 21st century. This is because nearly every mass shooter acquired his guns via background checks, rather than private gun sales. The exceptions are those who stole their guns.

Yet Democrats are rushing this legislation to the House floor for a vote. Reuters reports that the House Judiciary Panel “will mark up the bill…on February 13 and send it to the House floor for a vote.”

Supposedly, it will not pass through the Senate. If it did, the President has indicated he will Veto this type of legislation. If this happens, we then need to put heavy pressure on the Republican Senators, to make certain, there cannot be a 67% majority, to override the Veto

It passed today. The filthy mob that is the modern democrat party are THE domestic enemies our Founders warned us about. They are irredeemable and there can be no reconciliation. Voting in elections can not fix this existential crisis. There is only one remedy.

Well said Randy. They do stupid random things, without a care, of how their actions totally ignore the precepts of the 2A. Then, they scratch their heads and wonder , why there has been a Steady Rise in the III% Groups across the country.

The Socialcrats are Hell Bent on bringing this country into a Fully Socialist State, and they know, that until they can incrementally reduce private citizen gun ownership, they won't be able to accomplish it, without a bloody, and long fight.

Take a step back and look at the Whole Picture of this Country. State by State (mostly Blue States). They are attacking freedom and doing their best, to reduce not just gun ownership, but also which guns, you may own. They are also trying to attack ammunition for these guns as well, by trying to put high taxes on ammunition, limiting the amount of ammo you can purchase in a given period, etc..

I'd guess it's to sit behind the keyboard and hope someone else does the dirty work of a revolution that is unlikely to play out as planned.

...and which, even if it did play out at all, would likely have negative consequences reaching far beyond the scope of private firearm ownership.

No kidding. Some romantic dream of being back at the point of 1776 is pure fantasy. I doubt it was all that much fun for those involved and the impact on our modern lives would be horrific. Plenty of examples around the world to get a preview of what revolutions and civil wars look like. Make a donation to the Caucus, get involved in politics and do the best we can.

It’d also be different if we didn’t hold the senate at the state level and the executive and senate at the fed level. We aren’t at the point of no return, yet.

Yep:

And the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other."
