How's the pro/anti gun struggle going?

Postby Lumpy on Sat Mar 23, 2019 6:43 pm

My general impression from what news I catch is that both sides are ramping up their game: the anti's are pushing ever more stringent gun control, the pro's are fighting back, and the status of various legal challenges is mixed. Is this accurate? It's hard to gauge overall progress vs. setbacks.

Looks like liberal leaning states are retreating, conservative states are advancing with respect to gun rights.

Purple states are straddling the fence, it’s a barbed wire fence so it hurts.

Yep; a fair bit of that blue is deceptive. Don't want to be a non-resident in some of those states.

Good, signed back into law a right that was removed by government overreach.

Even though the map is turning the right color, don't be complacent.

The MN Gun Owner Caucus is doing a great job. Support them. At the least, subscribe to their mailing list do their "actions" on this page

Yep, overall things are pretty good for gun owners in the US, but keeping them will be a never ending job. We need to support local and national RKBA groups, vote, and most importantly do outreach to open minded non-gun owners.

My take on this is that the anti side is getting more strategic in their approach. They have been watching our "chess not checkers" analogy and while much of their base is still ruled by mob thinking they are looking for sneaky ways to undermine us. They are looking for cracks and exploiting them. That is why they paid for a booth at the state trapshooting championship. Nothing like accessing 12,000 kids and their parents with "common sense gun safety".

Thanks for your kind words. It's a long session - and we haven't even begun to see the level of **** we can expect later this session from the anti-gun faction in the DFL.
