Contrary to the picture the tabloid media paints, the democrat party is deeply divided, perhaps irreconcilably so. The lunatic fringe of the party has grown into a force to be reckoned with and will no longer allow itself not to be heard. Meanwhile, the more moderate wing of the party knows they need to at least appear reasonable to remain in the majority.

Pelosi desperately wants to hold on to her speakership, and has been trying to keep her caucus united.

It will be interesting to see how many democrats vote not to impeach, and whether or not they get primaried by a wacko leftist.
