Pro-Gun Montana Ballot Referendum Passes Despite Millions Spent by Gun-Control Activists
Opponents spent 27 times as much as supporters
Montana voters blocked localities from instituting their own gun restrictions on Tuesday despite a massive spending campaign by gun-control advocates.

The referendum, which passed with 51 percent support, bars localities from exercising "any power that applies to or affects the right to keep or bear arms." Cities, counties, and other local authorities will no longer be able to regulate where Montanans with state permits can concealed-carry their firearms, restrict people from owning guns beyond what state or federal law says, or limit where they can openly carry firearms outside of government buildings.

Victory!

But it would seem like a no-brainer in a state like Montana.
I will never apologize for being an American.

That's what I was thinking; a 51/ 49 vote sounds way too close for Montana... odd the antis would even consider being there. Or has the state been invaded by the left coast?

Kalispell, Big Sky, Bozeman, etc are liberal hotspots.

BU1 is spot on. These areas are not native Montana people, many have moved there from liberal land.

The folks in Montana when I was there hunting are NOT happy with the influx of moneyed outsiders.

People can’t buy housing, and the out of state owners tend to refuse locals trespass permission to hunt.

The locals see the California idiots who come there because of prices, lack of taxes, freedom, etc. and then start wanting to change the rules to be “more like home” and really want them gone.

Kinda the way out state here is feeling about the metro...

Can't wait for the gigantic forest fires when the forestry practices are California-ized. Tree hugging nit wits destroying everything they touch all in the name of misguided "good intentions". Not enough to do when you start telling everyone else what to do.

I'm glad they took a step towards retaining and protecting their rights. Too bad they have to do that.
