Timeline of a Biden "assault weapon" ban

Postby Lumpy on Tue Nov 10, 2020 8:57 pm

So what happens if Biden orders the BATFE to reclassify all semi-automatic rifles with removable magazines as NFA items and to refuse to grandfather them. Naturally there will be mongo lawsuits but in the meantime? Could these firearms become impossible to legally purchase overnight? Would there be any warning time to run out and buy one on a now-or-never basis?

If you think Trump is going to overturn the results in enough states to win... I think you are not living in reality anymore. The 2000 election hinged on a couple of hundred votes in a single state.... That is not in anyway comparable to what we are seeing today. It may not be what we wanted, but people need to start dealing with reality we are faced with.

So you are saying Biden can change the law through executive order? I think you forget about the legacy in the supreme court Trump left us. ;)

This is a legal matter now and it is really only a couple thousand votes in a couple counties. I would greatly prefer Trump but if it's Biden that just means I have to wait 5-6 years to buy my next batch of toys at reasonable prices instead of 1-1.5 years to clear the existing backlog. I stand by my original statement: Don't panic and over-spend.

Some family members and I were discussing Sniffin' Joe's gun control proposals and we weren't sure what is and is not possible by executive order:

Pretty sure he has EO capacity to restrict imports of guns/parts/ammo, but I think it requires Congress to pass legislation for an outright ban on certain firearm types, mag limits, red flag laws, and UBC's.

What we're unsure of is expansion of the NFA to include "military style" rifles possible by EO directive to the ATF, or does it require a Congressional amendment to the original NFA code?

Bidet will send Play Dough O'Dork out in his pick-up to confiscate all the AK's and AR's and 10/22's etc. in the country. I await him here with bad breath.

He can order anything. The question is what holds up in court.

It all boils down to what happen in Georgia's special election. If the democrat's win the Senate, end the filibuster and pack the court as they've promised.

Plan on #uckery and lawsuits.

If you don’t think AWB 2.0 is coming, you’re fooling yourself.

P.S. Biden will be President for the next 4 years, and if Trump and the GOP aren’t careful, they’re going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in Georgia.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

Basically I want to know if I'll have enough warning time to buy one before the (legal) sellers are shut down.

There is absolutely no way to know that.

If you wait until you have warning time, it will be too late.
