2024 Election - We can't afford another DFL trifecta in MN

Here's a thought that I sent to some gun club members this week. Decided to share it here...

Last month we got to take a short but well-earned victory lap for defeating almost every gun control bill, proposal or amendment put forth by the DFL majority. It felt good.

But now the time for celebration is over and we have to turn our attention to the coming election. This November will likely be THE election that determines the future of our Constitutional Rights, including the 2nd Amendment. If you want a Conservative's perspective on what the Bill of Rights means to the Left, read Jason Lewis' July 8, 2024 Newsletter article Here: https://alphanews.org/jason-lewis-radical-democrats-regard-the-bill-of-rights-as-a-nuisance/

An attempt has been made on the life of our 45th President the presumptive GOP nominee, and Chaos appears to once again be the nom de guerre of the Left and its media allies.

At the Minnesota state level, outside monies are already pouring in to fund Minnesota candidates for office who will gladly sell their soul to those who choose to blame guns for the evils that they themselves have let loose upon our society. Note that places with the strictest gun laws (Chicago, NYC) have the worst crime.

If you are needing inspiration, look at House Representatives like Lisa Damuth (R-Cold Spring), Walter Hudson (R-Albertville) and Senators Eric Lucero (R-District 30) & Mark Johnson (R-District 1). As a shooting community we need to get behind these public servants and those like them in order to hold the line against the gun-control.

My recommendation is to start supporting law & order candidates (check MN Gun Owners Caucus legislative scorecards) and become as active as possible in your respective voting districts. Remember that many house districts (and even a few senate districts) were won by very slim vote margins in 2022. We backed Jason Rarick (R-Disrict 11) to add a conservative seat to the Minnesota Senate in 2022.

With DFL Senator Nicole Mitchell (D-Woodbury) resigning in disgrace after casting the deciding vote in the DFL’s pork barrel funding bill last session. Now is the time to highlight the dark road DFL leadership has taken Minnesota in all three branches of our government. Support those who value our Constitutional Rights like the NRA, National Association for Gun Rights and MN Gun Owners Caucus to name a few.

Remembering the GOP defeat of November 2022 (driven by Row v Wade ruling), law abiding gun owners have great momentum in 2024 to swing our state government’s focus back toward the center and perhaps restore some of the damage done over the past two years. Let’s not be disappointed. Get involved, Campaign, Vote!

Heck, if you want a pro-gun liberal's* perspective on what the Bill of Rights means to the Left, read Jim Kavanaugh's essay "The Rifle On The Wall" https://www.thepolemicist.net/2013/01/the-rifle-on-wall-left-argument-for-gun.html
*liberal in the original sense of the word: in favor of more liberty, against authoritarian control.

If, on the other hand, you do not hold that the right to possess firearms is a fundamental political right, if you think it is some kind of luxury or peculiarity or special prerogative, then, of course, you really won’t give a damn about how restricted that non-right is, or whether it is ignored or eliminated altogether. If you reject, or don’t understand, gun ownership as a political right, then you probably think the Second Amendment should never have been.

They do not even understand why it should be considered a right at all, in the sense elaborated above. They would love to restrict it as much as possible, and they would just as soon be done with the American constitutional guarantee of that right, the Second Amendment, which they see as some kind of embarrassing anachronism.

ETA: I'm afraid it's worse than Jason Lewis thinks. It isn't even that the Radical Democrats aren't getting their way; it's that the Dems have an almost totalitarian dedication to outcome. The very idea that there should be logically fair, neutral and consistant rules that occasionally mean one will be on the losing side is anathema to them. They have a revolutionary mindset: compromise is faithlessness, neutrality is cowardice. The only rule is to win. And they believe this not out of a mere hypocritical dedication to winning- they really believe it as an ideology.
