If being an obnoxious prick was a tazerable offense,
Energizer would be a Fortune 500 company.

Yup. And while there's nothing wrong with folks who get their rocks off subjecting people in handcuffs to lifethreatening stress -- each to his/her own; not my thing, but I'm tolerant -- there really ought to be some consent by all parties involved.

I'm unfond of all of the folks involved -- as I may have mentioned on my livejournal earlier today. With any luck, though, this being a college, and, all, there'll be an educational experience for those folks who don't understand the difference between a non-violent person in handcuffs and an experimental pithed frog.

government controlling people's actions

That really pisses me off. That guy did nothing wrong.

Inciting a riot? He just seemed like a passionate person with questions.

So much for free speech.

You are sounding like you would be an advocate for :

A special device implanted in every cop. At the end of their shift, that device would tazer them a number of times equal to their tazer use that day, so a lot less cops would use 'em frivolously

then...

A special device implanted in to every whiny college conspiracy theorist. It would punch them in the junk a number of times equal to the number of time they espoused a wild-ass theory that day.

............The only question is, just who gets to push the little red buttons.................. :D :P :P

Nah. I think we don't need to up the number of sadomasochists in the PDs. ("You've been a bad boy, so now I get to punish you, and then I get to get punished, too. Whee!")

A professional dominatrix of my (entirely social) acquaintance once told me that she already saw a fairly large number of folks like that among her clientèle. (Which stands to reason; I suspect that "Mistress Ayesha" went unarrested for a very long time because of that.)

While I feel that there were enough Police present to "escort" the troublemaker out of the building, I don't think what the student did justified the use of a taser. It seems that the police are far too willing to use the taser as a compliance device vs. it's original intent of being a less than lethal alternative. Tasers can be deadly to some individuals. What IF.... that student had died while/after being tased??

Similar to what happens in Minneapolis when the doorkickers fried the elderly couple with a flashbang. If they didn't want to get fried, they shouldn't have lived in a house with a similar number to the one for which the warrant had been issued.

I'm sorry, but about the only way I could manage to watch the whole video was knowing that the social retard was going to get zapped in the end.

Yeah, yeah. free speech, yadda yadda yadda, I'm all for it.

Here's the video I saw first: http://www.break.com/index/student-tase ... peech.html

With pay. So it's more like a vacation.

I think the kid has a good case for civil rights violation.

Some of the message boards are saying this sort of disruption is Andrew Meyer's hobby.

For all you moonbats out there saying the cops should be suspended, or he should sue, maybe you should know the whole story before deciding that the authority is always in the wrong? This jerk pulls these stunts ALL the time. He has no political viewpoint, he simply wants attention. Read his blog. As for what lead up to this, have NONE of you asked why the cops were standing behind him in the first place? He was at the BACK of the line, and when they called "final question" CHARGED the mic plowing through people who were also in line to ask questions. Even after his mic was cut off, he refused to leave the senator alone, and when asked to leave by the police, he said, "What are YOU going to do? Arrest me? Taser me?" He asked for it from the word go. I'm surprised he wasn't tasered WAY earlier.
