Hi all,
I wanted to let you know that we’ve just released the Third Edition of our book “Minnesota Permit to Carry a Firearm Fundamentals.” This was a significant update, with almost no part of the book left untouched. In addition to the larger size (it’s about 30% larger than the previous editions), we’ve also added more than 50 pages of new content and almost 100 new color photos and custom illustrations, and we've given the book a brand new "look" as you'll see below. Most significantly, we’ve dramatically increased the topics around conflict avoidance and situational awareness, and we’ve also revised the topics around a “use of force,” to provide more advice to readers on how prosecutors will analyze any claim of self defense. We’ve also dramatically increased the topics around the physiological reactions, which went from one page to 18 pages, with lots of custom illustrations to explain the topics.
Here are a few examples from the new book:
Chapter One was significantly expanded to include new detail around situational awareness and conflict avoidance, and expanded discussions on the color codes, mental preparation, and other topics, including more than a dozen new custom illustrations.
Chapter Two and Three were revised, including retaking every single photograph to make them as high resolution as possible. We’ve also included a number of new custom illustrations to explain topics such as “What happens when the trigger is pressed?”
And yes, this is Westberg:
For our chapter on shooting fundamentals, we’re much more focused on “instinctive” options in this edition, and we've included a detailed discussion of point shooting versus sight shooting, with of course, new illustrations to explain the topic.
Chapter Four was revised to include minor updates to Minnesota law, and reciprocity/recognition agreements; and Chapter Five was revised to include a number of scenarios, and more information about how prosecutors will evaluate a claim of self-defense.
Chapter Six includes the most significant revisions, in particular, the topic of the physiological reactions that are typically experienced during violent attacks. As you’ll see in the examples below, every one of the reactions is now explained with a set of custom illustrations, not only explaining what happens, but why it happens, and how we can work them into a training plan.
Chapter Seven was also revised with all new gear illustrations and discussions; and Chapter Eight includes a number of great new drills that were put together with the help of Rob Pincus. Other changes include heavier, coated paper, which helps the illustrations to really pop-out, but can still take pencil or pen notes. Lastly, the book is now being published under the name “Key House Press” (http://www.keyhousepress.com) rather than our training company, Minnesota Tactics.
The book is now available on Amazon.com at a cost of $27.95. That’s one dollar more than the previous editions, but the book now comes with free shipping and handling, so the net cost of the book is about $2 less than the 1st or 2nd editions. Bill's has also been restocked, as has Joe's Sporting Goods and all metro Borders Bookstores. Although the cover price has increased, we’re not increasing instructor pricing, so please let me know if we can provide books for your classes! For bulk orders you can PM me, or email me at michael@keyhousepress.com.
I’ll be at Old Country Buffet tomorrow and the Gopher on April 3rd with the entire family, so if you’d like an autograph from either of these famous young men:
I’m sure they’d be happy to oblige.
Thanks all!
Michael Martin
