westhope, it was a really tough call between sticking with the wire binding or going with a standard (or "perfect") binding. In the end, we decided to go with the standard binding for the reason you pointed out - when the book was getting a lot of use, the pages could occasionally fall out of the wire binding. I know that mnglocker is going to be disappointed as well, since he liked leaving his copy on the bathroom floor for easy reading. I may have to create a special edition for him…
mnglocker, next time I see you, I’ll give you a free replacement, and a burn bag to dispose of the old one.

I can sign all the "special" editions. I'll even opt not to use brown crayons to do it.

It's even better than that - the new cover is a heavier weight and has a UV coating, and the pages are also coated to not only give them a nice shine, but if you leave the book where it might get... splashed, it should take the abuse nicely.

As far as a replacement plan, how about if I show up at the next bunch of breakfasts, lunches, and Alary's/Gopher nights out, and I'll provide a nice discount off of the cover price?

The book that I plan to pass around in class and stamped with "Property of River Valley Training" doesn't dry after a whole day, so I have to cover it with clear packing tape to make it permanent and then it takes on a blurred effect. Even the first page I stamped didn't take too well, so I would have to say that the coating appears to be pretty resistant to adverse conditions like your favorite beverage.

No matter how good Michael, you can't make everyone happy.
